| The Black Windmill (1974) | Just watched this - lots of excellent captures of cars seen very briefly, and some updates suggested. Also a good film in the first half for fans of early 70s cassette players. | 2011-03-21 03:18 | |

| 1973 MG B Roadster MkII [ADO23] The Black Windmill (1974) | LHD, US-style sidemarkers and red edging to number plate which I think was to show it was due for export. | 2011-03-21 00:26 | |

| Renault Dauphine My Three Sons (1960-1972) | This cyclist with a beret gets everywhere. I assume another US set and US-spec car looks a bit Mad Max-ish with those bumper giuards. | 2011-03-20 23:56 | |
| 1959 Peugeot 403 My Three Sons (1960-1972) | Looks like a US studio set - another Cliche Bingo opportunity - puddles, cyclist with a beret, other hats etc. And the 403 has a plate underneath the "French" one. | 2011-03-20 23:54 | |
| 1959 Renault Dauphine My Three Sons (1960-1972) | Real life or a studio set in US? A US-spec car? Is there a French version of Cliche Bingo we can play with a man on a bike with a beret, a Tabac sign, the rubbish bin, street puddles etc? | 2011-03-20 23:51 | |
| 1936 Peugeot 402 L Taxi My Three Sons (1960-1972) | Peugeot 402? | 2011-03-20 23:41 | |

| 1964 Austin 1100 MkI [ADO16] Following Sean (2005) | Is this USA? If so, the closest match to a 2 door with this boot trim is the 1963+ MG Sports Sedan - a 2 door MG 1100 Mk1. Austin in US was limited to a 1967+ 1100 Mk1 2door with plain trim and March 68 onwards America - a Mk2 2 door 1300 with thick side trim but no boot chromeline. Boot trim here looks MG as I've said, but rear lights look cut-back Mk2 so the America is a second possibility if the apparent boot trim is a light effect. So 62+ MG Sports Sedan if you believe the boot trim or 68+ Austin America if you're more convinced by the side trim. If it's not USA footage the discussion would be different ..... | 2011-03-20 21:48 | |

| 1959 Ford Zodiac MkII [206E] Titanic Town (1998) | @Dynamike - I've had problems with this as well, especially when trying to judge by the shape/height. For this one the key is the tail-lights - sloping before Feb 59, vertical afterwards; applies to Consul and Zephyr as well as Zodiac. | 2011-03-20 19:35 | |
| 1993 Rover Mini Mayfair MkVI [ADO20] Another Year (2010) | To me a June 92 change is 92my - September or October feels as if it should be the threshold for following year and I'd accept August (and I've learned that anything to do with early Mustangs relies on a parallel calendar system which has no basis on conventional reality ....) For what it's worth here, there were several changes to the Minis in June 92, and then an additional launch in Oct 92 of the Italian Job editions. I think of this car as 92 for its my and would put the IJobs as 93my. I also think - as above - its Sept 92 registration date should be recorded when we have the info - model year is a less precise identification. | 2011-03-20 19:29 | |
| 1959 Ford Zodiac MkII [206E] Titanic Town (1998) | Yes - Feb 59 onwards update with 'Lowline' trim. | 2011-03-20 18:54 | |
| 1958 Ford Prefect [100E] Titanic Town (1998) | Agree Prefect [100E]. V bonnet mascot = May 57, but possibly has large rear window Oct 57 onwards. | 2011-03-20 18:51 | |
| 1972 Austin 1300 MkIII [ADO16] Titanic Town (1998) | 1972+ Austin 1300 Mk3 [ADO16]. Saloon, not hatchback. | 2011-03-20 18:44 | |

Thanks - interesting. Says that changeover meant "Trams in Stockholm were withdrawn and replaced by buses", so confirms the extensive use of stock footage for any picture containing a tram or tram furniture. |
2011-03-20 17:11 | |
| Cornelis (2010) | Clever technique. Stock footage would date to 1966 or thereabouts from the cars and the Corsair advert on the bus? When was the changeover to driving on right - 1967? | 2011-03-20 16:45 | |
| 1966 Buick Riviera Fei Lung gwoh gong (1978) |
Interesting question. We're assuming a secondary conversion in Australia, not a primary difference as it left the factory in US. Needs a ruling from Someone Important on how to treat this. |

| Born to Race (1988) | Somehow these do not look extreme enough for full NASCAR racers. Am I imagining this, or are the cars really a Junior NASCAR category of some sort? Some at least of them would be genuine racers instead of just made-for-film lookalikes? | 2011-03-20 16:13 | |
| LTI TX4 City Rats (2009) | Interesting financial article in yesterday's Independent newspaper about Manganese Bronze, makers of LTI TX4. Bodies made in China by Geely, who have 20% stake in Manganese Bronze and shipped to Coventry for painting and assembly. UK demand has fallen dramatically since 2008, so has pursued foreign markets. US deal has collapsed, but successes are 400 taxis to Bahrain and 1000 to Azerbaijan. Franchise taxi businesses launched in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Kuwait and planned for France, Italy, Turkey and possibly South America. Possibly China as well with new low-cost version and even a normal saloon TX4. So we can expect lots of TX4s in strange places. | 2011-03-20 15:25 | |

| 1970 Aston Martin DBS The Persuaders! (1971-1972) | BS1 plate issued in 1904 in Orkney, Scotland. A cherished plate, sold on several times - in the early 70s it was owned by Billy Smart (of Billy Smarts Circus) and on a Rolls Royce. Its use in Persuaders was a fake. | 2011-03-20 14:34 | |
| 1965 Jaguar S-Type 3.4 Una lucertola con la pelle di donna (1971) | Nothing on plate check sites, but BHE xxxC series was genuine issue in Jan 65; issued in Barnsley (Yorkshire) so unlikely to be an original London police car. | 2011-03-20 14:27 | |
| 1967 Hillman Husky Una lucertola con la pelle di donna (1971) |
I'm not sure if there was a difference. Early 67+ often had white paint band around windows (echoing earlier Audax Minx-based Husky livery) but not all; never used on 69+ facelift cars. But chrome trim was - as far as I know - unchanged unless it's the colour of the trim flash, which MAY always be dark on Oct67+ and possibly white on dark colours after 69+ (as here). But this is only my observation from photos, not a confirmed method to separate. |

| 1965 Rover 2000 [P6] Una lucertola con la pelle di donna (1971) |
2000 [P6] with early grille. No 3500 badging, bonnet edge trim or over-riders. Edit: colour is - I think - Zircon blue which was about 1965-66. Can anyone confirm? -- Last edit: 2011-03-20 14:56:44 |

Oct 67 onwards DBS 6 cylinder - not a Sept 69+ V8 as no black airdam below bumper. Registration looks cherished number in 1234 AB format - 3xxx VC?? - so useless for dating. -- Last edit: 2011-12-09 02:57:39 |

| Cornelis (2010) | Have I understood this correctly - the film people wanted to recreate mid-60s street scenes with driving on the left? So they would have to close off a fair part of central Stockholm streets and bridges to create the closed set extending for quite a distance to ensure the background traffic matched the foreground. Plus convert all the road signs, markings and traffic lights etc. A big project with a lot of co-operation and disruption (even if the soft light suggests early morning or evening). I'm impressed. | 2011-03-20 03:35 |
