| 1971 Datsun 240Z [S30] Full Throttle (2004-2005) |
this show is a "head to head battle" between two teams that each modify a 240z, then drag race the cars (not really the specialty of a car that ~ by nature ~ loves curves, but...). the team that wins the best 2 out of 3 takes home both cars. this 240z begins the show finished in white, and though missing some emblems, with easily discernable traits of series I (1970-early 1971) trim including the series I specific sail pillar emblems. in a slight twist of irony, when the cars have been finished by the teams and before "race day unveiling", the show has the cars both repainted to (nearly) their original colors. this one ends up to be the original red/orange (color code 918 "new sight orange"), but without the series I specific non-vented sail pillar emblems or hatch vent trim reinstalled. the other car - that they claim throughout the show is also a 1971 240z - is actually a 1973 model (based on the series II badges in conjunction with the one year only 1973 bumper style). it has also been listed. |

late 1971(.5)-1972 model series II. front and rear spoilers are not original, but otherwise, pretty much stock down to the original and rarely seen hubcaps. (... also has a non-stock "Fairlady" badge on the rear spoiler, but from here, who would know?}  the color is 920 gold i believe, and is much less orange than it appears in the picture. |

 ~ i had to look at this one 4 times over 3 days. based on the off center license plate mounting location, and the appearance of the front fender emblems which look MUCH more like the charcoal/chrome/amber "260z" emblems that the 1974 260z models would have had than they look like the white "DATSUN" emblems that the 240z would have worn in that location... i'd say this one pretty much has to be a 1974 (early) 260z. the color is 901 silver. -- Last edit: 2011-01-11 06:50:27 |

actually... while the largest Nissan plant in the U.S. is in Smyrna, Tennessee (where the Altima, Maxima, Pathfinder, and Xterra - among others - have been, or are still being built), the Armada and QX56 models are built in Canton, Mississippi. |

| 1982 BMW 5 [E28] Crash (2004) | agreed. ~ from what's visable here, i don't see anything that narrows the year of this specific car within the 1982-1988 range, or for that matter, anything that limits the model to 528e. with the exception of the fact that this one couldn't be a 535is or an M5 (lacking the spoiler)... it seems that this car could be any U.S. spec. offering (a 528e, a 533i, a 535i, or even a 524td - though we were provided with a relatively small number of the diesels), from any year of manufacture within the 7 years that the e28 sedans were offered here. i was just wondering if the previous post that narrowed the range to 1982-84 was based on something not seen here, or if i was missing a clue, and how the model was limited to being a 528e. | 2009-12-23 04:01 | |

these headlights are recessed pencil beams behind a lexan lens of some sort... not roll-forwards. not something that came to america in this form, so my usefulness is limited, but from the thumbnail of the left rear i'd make it most likely a nissan - probably in the 240sx/silvia body from the mid '90s. if not, possibly a mitsubishi product? tried hard, but i sure can't make it german. -- Last edit: 2009-12-19 16:30:26 |
