1972 Holden Statesman [HQ]
Play for Today - Nuts in May (1976)
After checking the range between PXD 98L and PXD 116L it appears there was at least one another Holden imported at the same time...

The vehicle details for Holden PXD 109L are:

Date of Liability 01 10 1984
Date of First Registration 04 09 1972
Year of Manufacture Not Available
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 5045cc
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type PETROL
Export Marker N
Vehicle Status Unlicensed
Vehicle Colour CREAM

Only three Vauxhalls were also found in the same range so again most likely imported by Vauxhall Motors and scrapped in the mid-1980s.

Vauxhall did auction off almost all their ex-factory registered cars at the time but the Holdens would most likely have been scrapped as there was no dealer support available for this model.

I know of only one other Holden in use in the 1960s imported by GM Europe. Almost certainly a one-off import by Vauxhall management for evaluation. After an initial period of less than a year it would have gone on general pool car use as it was unlikely to be considered for manager use, then scrapped when uneconomic for continued use. 2013-04-27 19:21

The Iron Lady (2011)
Actually enlarging the Mini picture shows "?UV 272C" so almost certainly preserved Routemaster RML 2272 (CUV 272C). Its clearly an extended RML class Routemaster by the added small window seen in the upper deck. 2013-02-04 13:51

Nothing to identify it definitely as CF2 released October 1984, if it was actually available in NZ at the time of filming within the following twelve months.

1966 Vauxhall Viscount [PCE]
Inspector George Gently: Gently in the Cathedral (2012)
It appears to be a Viscount PCE and Cresta less likely from level of trim.

Badging looks correct and (by the slightly dull appearance) a vinyl roof.

Hallford 3-Ton Subsidy
Michael Collins (1996)
Jale wrote They called this Hallford GS: http://miliblog.co.uk/?cat=193

GS indicated 'General Service' and the term was applied to many British WWI military trucks at the time.

The Hallford 3-Ton was approved in the WWI Subsidy scheme. Hallford produced trucks with the oval nameplate on the radiator in 1910, so its possible that it dates to about 1914-8 as the miliblog link suggests but it could equally be a later 'restoration' of a civilian truck.

1965 Commer Imp Van
Outpost: Black Sun (2012)
Yes dsl, just found the imps4ever site...

"Manufacturers: Commer Cars Ltd., Luton, Bedfordshire." would be the registered address for the company as the headquarters were still in Biscot Road, Luton.

Badge engineering therefore I guess and so Scottish manufacture on the normal Imp line...

Outpost: Black Sun (2012)
dsl wrote "All production apparently at Commer in Luton, so it's not Scottish like all other Imps"...

Is that true? Do you have a source for that information?

Firstly Dunstable was the van plant from the mid-1950s with the old Biscot Road Luton factory used for Commer/Karrier special vehicles.

However I don't remember Commer or Hillman Imp vans at Luton or Dunstable at all but could be wrong.

1915 Daimler Y-Type 30hp 3-Ton 'Subsidy' Truck
Downhill (1927)
Edit: 1915 Daimler 30hp Y-Type 3-Ton 'Subsidy' Truck as here

Data shown as the original auction source is likely to disappear with time: Link to "www.christies.com"

"Prior to the Great War Daimler lorries of various sizes from 2 to 5 tons load capacity were made and with the outbreak of hostilities these were in considerable demand for all manner of purposes from straightforward troop transport to fully-equipped mobile workshops. In March 1915 an unexpected Government request for 50 lorries to be supplied within the week for, as it later transpired, the Gallipoli campaign was successfully met by twenty-four hour working at the Coventry factory.

The Y-Type differed from its predecessors of identical load and engine capacity in that it had a full pressed-steel chassis whereas earlier models utilised a wood and flitch-plate frame. Fletcher's Commercial Motor Index lists the Y-type Daimler only for 1916 and 1917 but since one of the plates on this surviving lorry bears an October 1915 date it is safe to assume that production started before the end of the year."

The size and proportions of the radiator on the Daimler D-type bus based WWI vehicles appear to be wider compared to the truck shown here and in the link http://ccmv.aecsouthall.co.uk/p565484992/h8cb21a#h8cb21a There also appears to be a difference in the front axle shape for buses and trucks although this could have been an earlier or later design change.

In addition to Leyland Thornycroft and other British truck makers, Daimler also made 'Subsidy' trucks the majority being to the WWI 3-ton specification for the war department. I believe this is an actual 3-ton Subsidy truck.
