1973 Ford F-100
The New Avengers (1976-1977)
Ford F-100 2006-02-07 17:18
1977 Chevrolet Caprice Classic
The New Avengers (1976-1977)
No, it's a Chevy. I think it might be a Caprice, though. 2006-02-07 17:16
1969 GM TDH 5303 'New Look'
The New Avengers (1976-1977)
It's a GM "New-Look".

As (more or less) an ex-Torontonian, I'm still a little weirded out by the older TTC paint scheme.
2006-02-07 17:11
1975 Ford Granada
The New Avengers (1976-1977)
Looks like it. 2006-02-07 17:05
1977 Toyota Corolla Liftback SR-5 [TE51]
The New Avengers (1976-1977)
It's a Corolla. I kinda dig the looks, it's a bit like that P1800 wagon from the back. 2006-02-07 17:01
1974 Dodge Tradesman
The New Avengers (1976-1977)
A Dodge B100, I think.

The naming convention for these Dodge vans (before they switched to the Ram van name, at least) is a little weird. What we've got on this site is the B-series (with a number denoting what it's weight rating is), but then I've also seen them refered to the Tradesman and Sportsman )depending on whether or not it's got rear windows).

1974 Volvo 164
The Silence of the Lambs (1991)
I don't think we ever got the Trueno name in North America, so it'd have to be a Corolla. 2006-02-07 16:26
Ford L-9000
The New Avengers (1976-1977)
It's a Ford L-series. I'd guess an L9000, but I don't know commercial trucks very well. 2006-02-07 16:24
1977 GMC Suburban
The New Avengers (1976-1977)
It's a Suburban. 2006-02-07 15:59
1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo [ZJ]
The Arrival (1996)
It'd say "Laredo" actually. The Laredo had the grey body cladding, while the Limited was monochromatic. 2006-02-06 09:57
The Island (2005)
Quote [quote]Peut-être un bâtiment qui date de l'époque où Citroën est arrivé aux États-Unis ? Ou bien ils avaient déjà changé de logo ?

Do you know in which city this scene was recorded?[/quote]
Quite a bit of the filming was done in Detroit (strangely enough, and in the middle of January, if I remember correctly), although that particular scene, if not largely CG, was probably in LA (I don't reconize any of the buildings from the Detroit skyline).
2006-02-06 09:52
1983 Honda Prelude [AB]
American History X (1998)
It looks more like a Subaru Legacy of similar vintage to me... 2006-02-06 09:41
1977 Pontiac Parisienne
The New Avengers (1976-1977)
Based on what little I've read, every episode from #23 onward took place in Canada (or, more specifically I think, someone will probably correct me on this, in Toronto - I've already seen terminal 2 of Pearson Airport, a TTC streetcar, and a Toronto Star truck in a few of the pictures). 2006-02-05 12:25
1975 Oldsmobile Delta 88
The New Avengers (1976-1977)
I believe it's a '74 Oldsmobile 98 2006-02-05 08:08
1974 Dodge Kary Van [B-300]
The New Avengers (1976-1977)
It looks like a heavy-duty model (hauling around newspapers, I assume), I'd guess it's a Dodge B300. 2006-02-05 07:34
1977 Ford Granada
The Messenger (1986)
Ford Granada, I think 2006-02-05 06:28
1976 Mercury Monarch
The Messenger (1986)
Mercury Monarch? 2006-02-05 06:22
1985 Plymouth Gran Fury
The Messenger (1986)
If it's a Plymouth, it's a Gran Fury. 2006-02-05 06:16
1986 Ford LTD Crown Victoria
The Messenger (1986)
Possibly LTD Crown Victoria (depends on the age of each of the cars). 2006-02-05 06:15
1986 Buick Century
The Messenger (1986)
Buick Century 2006-02-05 06:14
1985 Ford LTD
The Messenger (1986)

1986 Chevrolet Caprice Wagon Classic
The Messenger (1986)
It's a Caprice 2006-02-05 06:14
1984 Buick Skyhawk
What Dreams May Come (1998)
Actually, I'd say that's a Buick Skyhawk. 2006-02-04 06:22
2005 Chrysler 300 [LX]
The Island (2005)
Actually, with those tail lights, it's just a regular 300 (with the V6). The C denoted the top-spec model, which has the V8. 2006-02-02 09:14
1982 Oldsmobile Firenza
Sudden Impact (1983)
Not quite, it's an Oldsmobile Firenza (which was also built on the J-body platform). The Sunbird's headlights sloped down to a point, unlike the rather rectangular headlights on the Olds. 2006-01-31 13:23
1983 Mercury Marquis
Sudden Impact (1983)
It's none of those things (if nothing else, a car from '86 isn't going to be in a movie made in '83). Anyways, it's a Mercury Marquis (the smaller, fox-body based one that replaced the Zephyr). 2006-01-31 13:20
1993 Chevrolet Cavalier Wagon
Stargate SG-1 (1997-2007)
It's a Chevy Cavalier wagon ('91-'94) 2006-01-31 13:10
1985 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Regency
Lethal Weapon (1987)
As I said, I don't think Cadillac taillights ever looked like that (notice how it curves down at the top?). After looking around a bit, I'm fairly certain it's a Oldsmobile 98 (an '86 or '87). 2006-01-29 22:35
2002 Ford Mustang V6
The Big Bounce (2004)
Actually, you could also get the Bullitt in either a dark blue or black (although I have no idea why you'd want to). 2006-01-29 22:16
The Transporter (2002) According to the movie, it's a 735, but the actual car was, as mentioned, custom-built with the V12 and the manual gearbox. 2006-01-27 08:29
1985 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Regency
Lethal Weapon (1987)
I don't think DeVille taillights ever looked like that. I'm leaning towards an Oldsmobile of some sort (one of the FWD 88's perhaps?). I think that's the Olds logo in the taillights. 2006-01-27 08:17
1937 Buick Century Bohman & Schwartz
Topper (1937)
It's a '37 Cord 810. Really impressive cars (revolutionary for their time). 2006-01-27 08:14
1987 Nissan Sentra [B12]
Tears of the Sun (2003)
My first guess was Nissan Sentra, but I'm not really sure. 2006-01-26 03:07
1991 Toyota Tercel [EL42]
Tears of the Sun (2003)
Looks like a Toyota Tercel. 2006-01-26 03:00
1975 Chevrolet Blazer [K-5]
Last Action Hero (1993)
Well, I haven't seen the movie, but based only on this picture, I'd be more likely to say a Blazer. I believe the Jimmy had a different grille (blacked out, with only two chrome bars). 2006-01-25 20:58
1984 Hyundai Pony
Hung fan kui (1995)
No, that's a Hyundai Pony. The Excel/Pony you're refering to was the Pony in Europe, but the Excel in North America (and FWD, compared to the RWD Pony that was sold in Canada). 2006-01-25 20:50
1980 Pontiac Phoenix
J'ai vomi dans mes cornflakes (2004)
I'm thinking Ford Mustang II, but I'm probably wrong. 2006-01-25 20:45
1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner Retractable
Die Another Day (2002)
I don't know if junk is quite the right word, as they're just well-worn (and rather creatively kept running). However, the cars in the movie's version of Cuba (which was actually Spain) were just a little too clean. 2006-01-25 04:42
(archived)
2002 Jaguar XKR [X100]
Die Another Day (2002)
Yeah, for the shooting of the chase scene, both cars had their drivetrains switched to a Ford V8 and a Ford three-speed automatic (351 V8 and C3 transmission I believe, although it's been a while since I read the article). They were also AWD, just so they could get both cars moving. 2006-01-25 04:38
Lamborghini Countach Kit Car
Hung fan kui (1995)
Yup, it's pretty close, but I don't think the Countach has those bulges. I'd guess it's Fiero-based (if I remember correctly, we see the interior after the hovercraft runs it over, that might help). 2006-01-25 04:33
1981 Plymouth Sapporo
Hung fan kui (1995)
It could also be a Plymouth Sapporo or a Dodge Challenger (both of which were basically the same car). 2006-01-25 04:32
1975 Chevrolet Blazer [K-5]
Last Action Hero (1993)
They were SUV's, but you used to be able to take the roof off behind the b-pillar (much like the older Toyota 4-Runners), as has been done on this Blazer. 2006-01-25 04:22
1984 Hyundai Pony
Hung fan kui (1995)
Yeah, it was rather blatantly filmed in BC (Vancouver, if I'm not mistaken). There's one scene where you can actually see mountains in the background.

And you're correct that the Pony wasn't sold in the US (at least, accoring to Wikipedia). It's not the first time that one's popped up in an American movie though (/vehicle_10119-Hyundai-Pony-1988.html)

1984 Chrysler New Yorker
Moonlighting (1985-1989)
Chrysler New Yorker 2006-01-23 23:10
1985 Plymouth Reliant K LE Wagon
Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai (1999)
It looks like the badge says Reliant K, but yup, either way, it's a K-car. 2006-01-23 23:01
1974 AMC Matador
Moonlighting (1985-1989)
Dodge Dart? 2006-01-23 22:56
1966 Chevrolet Biscayne
CHiPs (1977-1983)
No, I'm certain that's the rear end from a '68 Chevrolet. 2006-01-23 20:21
1963 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Coupe [C2]
Clarkson's Top 100 Cars (2001)
The C2 ('63-'67) is Sting Ray, while there was a concept racer, along with the C3 (from '69 to '77) that went by Stingray. 2006-01-23 20:12
1986 Ford LTD Crown Victoria
Fargo (1996)
Wasn't it the LTD Crown Victoria by '86 (particularily given that the LTD name was on the smaller Fox platform car by them)? 2006-01-23 09:26
1978 Ford Fairmont Wagon
The Dukes of Hazzard (1979-1985)
Yeah, I can't imagine the producers of the show managed to aquire a car two years before it was made :D 2006-01-23 09:02
