Ransom (1996)
Why are you apologizing? :p

I'm sure that it can be left here. Who knows, somebody might come along and ID it after having taken a closer look during this scene. I know that next time I watch this movie, I'll try to watch out for other details that might help to identify it.

All I can say is that it's a 2003+ model. If I had to bet, it's probably a much newer model, but there's no way to tell for sure. If I could see the side, I might be able to narrow it down even more.

By the way, I really like the LED setup in the rear :)

Yup, it's no longer operational. Besides the local Fire Department Ambulance Services, two of the biggest ambulance companies operating in LA County are AMR (American Medical Response) and Care. I think Care now has the contract with the county (AMR had it a few years ago, I don't know what caused the change).

Well three identical cars were used as you can see in garco's second thumbnail. So they're probably different cars. 2009-03-22 22:23
2003 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor [P71]
The Line (2009)
No, that section of the current-generation Crown Victoria has always been body-colored or simply black for police cars/taxis. The 1993-1997 CV did have reflector lamps, first in the form of a strip then as an add-on to the standard tailights. And yes, they have always been reflector lamps on the Grand Marquises. 2009-03-22 05:30

The Dukes of Hazzard (1979-1985)
I doubt it. Too many cars were used in the Blues Brothers movie and they were nearly all destroyed. Same with the Dukes of Hazzard. I bet you they used different cars for almost every episode given how they were always being destroyed. They always just got surplus police cars, probably sold at auction. 2009-03-22 04:56

They are reflective strips. It's not just the white, it's also the top portion (which is blue) and the bottom portion (which is red). You just can't really make out the colors too well because of how weird the shot is. Many law enforcement agencies now do this for extra protection towards the rear. The reflective strips come in many colors, but in this case the colors are red, white, and blue to match the colors on the rest of the car.

In the thumbnail's case, it is a newer model with many more reflective strips on the rear.

2003 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor [P71]
The Line (2009)
2003-2006. It can't be newer than that because since it's a real Toronto Police car, 2007+ models would have had their newer markings. 2009-03-22 03:06

Lost (2004-2010)
I'm going to assume that the car in the main picture might be the same car as the one in the thumbnail. The one in the thumbnail appears to be a real Honolulu PD car, and the one in the main image is set up exactly like one, even the first three letters of the license plate indicate "HPD." And given how the show is filmed on location, it is more probable.

So therefore I'll say this is a Police Interceptor. The one in the thumbnail would have to be a 2003-2005 model.

1975 Dodge Monaco
The Dukes of Hazzard (1979-1985)
The Royal Monaco was available as a police-package car, but this is a regular Monaco. And it is a 1975 as 1974 models had a different grill with only vertical lines running across. 2009-03-22 00:56

I'm not sure about the bumper, but one difference I did notice was in the trim on the side doors. According to your pictures, the 2005-2007 models had the trim while the 2008 model doesn't. Any other comments on that? 2009-03-20 23:23

Friday Night Lights (2004) I added in a few thumbnails and three new trucks to compliment ahight's captures. He did most of the page.

Here's a few extras:

A 1987-1990 Chevrolet Caprice looking very beat up for only being two years old at the most, according to the time frame:

[Image: pdvd002q.9148.jpg] [Image: pdvd001f.7352.jpg] [Image: pdvd003t.365.jpg]

An 80's Ford Econoline [E-350] ambulance outside of the hopsital:

A 1988 Mercedes-Benz brochure:

And have fun nit-picking at these shots for a movie set in 1988 :p

Another anachronistic truck. I decided not to regroup it with the 1994 as I believe the headrests indicate a newer model.

This truck had much more screen time, but it was cut. These shots are from deleted scenes. Hopefully they'll help with identifying a bit more:

[Image: pdvd037f.2670.jpg] [Image: pdvd038q.4210.jpg] [Image: pdvd036.4536.jpg]

By the way, I thought Cheyenne was only a trim and not the actual name of the truck?

1988 Ford Mustang SSP LX
Friday Night Lights (2004)
1988 Ford Mustang SSP (Special Service Package). Was an actual DPS unit that was restored and borrowed for the movie.

First used in the scene where the Texas State Trooper pulls into the 7-11 parking lot:

[Image: pdvd007l.4936.jpg] [Image: pdvd008lhh.8980.jpg]

You can see the police-spec wheels clearly in this shot:

I thought I would add this article written by the owner of the Mustang that tells his story on the set. Quite interesting actually. There are also more pictures of this Mustang and the other two Dodge Diplomats that appeared in the movie:
http://www.sspmustang.org/features/movie_write_up.htm

It's a shame the car didn't get any significant screen time.
