1961 De Soto
Las Vegas (2003-2008)
I always felt the '55 to '56 Ramblers were the ultimate badge engineered cars.
They were sold both as Nashes and Hudsons and were absolutely identical other than the nameplates and badges/logos.
The '52 and '53 Henry J's and Allstates were also essentially the same car but the grilles were at least very slightly different.

Can anyone think of earlier examples that were that close but technically different makes?

1969 Ford Ranch Wagon
Vuelven los campeones justicieros (1972)
If it had the vertical piece you mention, it would be a 1970.
Link to a 1969 brochure:
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2534/3871315428_25d74aaba8.jpg

Actually, owing to the stark trim, it may be a Ranch Wagon, but it is a '69.

1967 Checker Marathon [A12]
Emergency! (1972-1978)
Enlarged side markers but older style bumper = '70 to '72 range. 2010-04-18 23:43
1978 Cadillac Coupe DeVille
Hunter (1984-1991)
Per just visible taillamp housing, not a '77.
Should be either a '78 or '79.
2010-04-18 23:41
1969 Chevrolet Nova
Hunter (1984-1991)
Actually, the next to the last thumbnail is a '68 or '69.
The last thumbnail is a '72, which would match with the main photo which is either a '71 or '72 per grille and amber parking lamp lenses.
2010-04-18 23:35
1970 Lincoln Continental
That Was the Year: 1970 (1991)
Appears to be a '70. 2010-04-18 23:32
1969 Ford Ranch Wagon
Vuelven los campeones justicieros (1972)
'69.
Believe it is a Country Sedan.
2010-04-18 23:24
1971 Plymouth Satellite
Emergency! (1972-1978)
Agreed. 2010-04-18 17:22
1968 Cadillac Fleetwood Eldorado
Los campeones justicieros (1971)
Per wheel covers and side ornament on rear fender, I'm changing this to 1968.

1967 Dodge Dart
T.J. Hooker (1982-1986)
I see no heavy horizontal bar bisecting the grille, so will say 1967. 2010-04-18 17:12
1956 Dodge Unknown
Che: Part One (2008)
No, 1956 is correct.
Note the chrome band going straight across the front instead of dipping down in the center.
2010-04-18 02:29
1981 Lincoln Town Car
Dallas (1978-1991)
I believe you are thinking of the Continental Mark VI, a separate series. 2010-04-17 21:23
1968 Lincoln Continental Executive Limousine Lehmann-Peterson
Cannonball (1976)
Nice pix. 2010-04-17 21:20
1984 Cadillac Fleetwood Limousine
Matlock (1986-1995)
This must at least be an '84 owing to the winged crest ornaments on the parking lamp lenses in the right thumbnail.
Believe it is in the '84 to '86 range.

2010-04-17 16:33
1985 Lincoln Town Car
Matlock (1986-1995)
Actually, the crosshatched grille was used from '85 to '87. 2010-04-17 16:18
1984 Lincoln Town Car
Houseguest (1995)
Agreed.
Changing accordingly.
2010-04-17 16:16
1975 Dodge Dart
Little Corey Gorey (1993)
Incidentally, there is a way to differentiate '75 from '76 Darts (and the same applies to Valiants from the same years)
In 1976, the rear view mirror was glued to the windshield instead of being attached to the header by a support bar.
Unfortunately, the photo'ed car is too far away to tell.
2010-04-16 20:00
1964 Cadillac Fleetwood 75
A Guide for the Married Man (1967)
1965 Fleetwoods used this same styling.
1965 commercial vehicles (such as ambulances) used the new '65 bodies.
By 1966, all lines used the new bodies.
2010-04-16 19:09
1964 Studebaker Daytona Convertible
Valparaiso, Valparaiso (1971)
Nice shots.
2010-04-16 15:32
1975 Dodge Dart
Little Corey Gorey (1993)
Thanks, Atom.
That's why I placed my post - as information, not a suggestion that the listed year be changed.

(Quite frankly, I would like to see the format here changed to allow posting of year ranges instead of first years, in the interest of accuracy and to help those who come here for research)

2010-04-16 15:27
1984 Lincoln Town Car Stretched Limousine
The Stuff (1985)
Has no nameplate over the left headlamp panel = 1984. 2010-04-15 21:43
1975 Dodge Dart
Little Corey Gorey (1993)
Or 1976. 2010-04-15 21:42
1981 Ford Fairmont Futura
The Stuff (1985)
Yes, Fairmont. 2010-04-15 21:41
1962 Citroën Ami 6
Valparaiso, Valparaiso (1971)
Lower thumbnails = 1964 Studebaker Daytona. 2010-04-15 21:39
1955 Ford Country Squire [79C]
Teenage Thunder (1957)
1955 2010-04-15 21:37
1955 Studebaker
Haddaway: Who Do You Love (1998)
Correct.
From near front, blurry view, cannot tell what model.
The car to it's right looks like a '55 Studebaker also that has been made into a convertible.
(There were no factory convertibles in Studebaker's '55 line)
2010-04-15 17:53
1956 Studebaker Hawk
Haddaway: Who Do You Love (1998)
Not much to go on, but it appears to be a modified '56 Hawk.
Wheel covers are non-stock.
2010-04-15 14:52
1955 Nash Rambler Station Wagon
The Black Orchid (1958)
As a 1955 model, it could also be a Hudson Rambler.
By then, AMC had been formed by the Nash and Hudson merger.
Ramblers were sold by both dealers, with the only difference being nameplates and badges.
The same was true in '56 but in 1957, Ramblers were sold as a separate make.
2010-04-12 19:17
1954 Chevrolet Corvette [C1]
Mil Máscaras (1966)
'53 to '55 range. First series.
(If the color of the car is anything but white, it is not a '53)
2010-04-12 18:20
1964 VAM Rambler American Two-Door Sedan
Mil Máscaras (1966)
1964, actually. 2010-04-12 18:16
1981 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham Stretched Limousine
Hunter (1984-1991)
Amber lenses, Cadillac name over the grille, eggcrate grille = 1981.

2010-04-11 17:31
1969 Ford Custom 500
Brewster McCloud (1970)
Custom 500 or Galaxie 500, but not Custom (which had no side moulding). 2010-04-11 17:25
1975 Cadillac Fleetwood 75
Hunter (1984-1991)
Not to mention the obviously '75 grille! 2010-04-11 17:19
1954 Chevrolet 3800
The Girl from S.I.N. (1966)
Despite the blurriness, it appears to have a '54 style front end and a one-piece windshield. 2010-04-11 17:10
1970 Cadillac DeVille Convertible [68367F]
United States of Tara (2009-2011)
1970 DeVille model.

1980 Chevrolet Caprice Classic
The Terminal (2004)
That's quite correct, cieraguy.
Some Cadillac models had them optionally in 1985 along with some of the GM subcompact models.
But as you say, not the Caprice. The lamp in the photo is a retrofit.
2010-04-11 16:57
1974 Ford Maverick
Los camaroneros (1988)
1974, particularly.
Note no F O R D letters across the front of the hood.
2010-04-11 16:39
1975 AMC Pacer
Norbit (2007)
Well, Chrysler bought AMC in 1987 and elmimated the brand name.
They kept building the Eagle and Jeep models, but they were Chrysler products, not AMC's.
2010-04-10 21:36
1978 VAM Rambler American Camioneta
Santo en la frontera del terror (1979)
Sorry, Did not see country of origin.
Was basing ID on American Concord.
2010-04-10 21:31
1978 VAM Rambler American Camioneta
Santo en la frontera del terror (1979)
1978 AMC Concord. 2010-04-10 16:26
1979 Dodge Dart
Santo en la frontera del terror (1979)
Yes.
1980 or 1981.
2010-04-10 16:24
1971 Ford LTD
The Rockford Files (1974-1980)
Per body lines, door handles, wheel covers and side trim, I believe this is either a '71 or '72. 2010-04-10 16:16
1975 AMC Pacer
Norbit (2007)
This is the '75 to '77 version.
The 1978's had a revised grille which was taller in the center section with a mesh design.
2010-04-10 16:10
1975 Ford Maverick
The Rockford Files (1974-1980)
Reviewed my Burness album which jogged my memory.
The nameplate change was at the front, not the back.
The '74's had plain hood front edges while the '75's had the block F O R D letters across the edge.
(Of course, the '76's had new grilles which were carried over to '77, the final year for the Maverick)
2010-04-10 16:06
1972 AMC Matador
The Rockford Files (1974-1980)
1972. 2010-04-10 01:01
1970 Chevrolet Nova
The Rockford Files (1974-1980)
I believe this is a '70.
I seem to recall they went with amber parking lamp lenses for '71.
2010-04-10 00:59
1975 Ford LTD
The Rockford Files (1974-1980)
'75 or '76, limited by year of ep. 2010-04-10 00:56
1975 Ford Maverick
The Rockford Files (1974-1980)
Energy absorbing rear bumper = no earlier than 1974.
Latest possible is 1976 (year of ep).
Any way to narrow it down further? Wasn't there a variation in placement of the rear nameplate?
2010-04-10 00:54
1975 Ford LTD
The Rockford Files (1974-1980)
I would think '75 or '76 based on year of episode. 2010-04-10 00:52
1975 Lincoln Continental
The Rockford Files (1974-1980)
1975 to 1976. 2010-04-10 00:50
