| 1951 Studebaker Land Cruiser Thunder Alley (1967) |
Ouch! (But correct ID) |
2010-05-22 16:03 | |
| 1947 Studebaker Commander Four-Door Sedan [16A] The Hoodlum (1951) |
This is a 1947 Commander. That "wrap" is actually a front wing guard. (Note how the ends are raised) Also, 1947 Commander style bumper guards. -- Last edit: 2010-05-22 16:00:32 |
2010-05-22 15:58 | |
| 1957 Studebaker Silver Hawk Racconti d'estate (1958) |
Changing to '57 Silver Hawk. Note '57 style 2-tone pattern. (In '58, there was no color contrast on the lower body section, just on the fin sides.) |
2010-05-22 15:54 | |
| 1952 Studebaker Champion Regal Four door sedan Roadhouse 66 (1984) |
'52 Champion ID is correct. Note Champion style hood emblem. Whether or not it is a Regal depends on rocker moulding and W/S trim. If we are seeing bright W/S trim, then it is a Regal. If rubber, it is a Deluxe. |
2010-05-22 15:51 | |
| 1956 Studebaker Four-Door Sedan Gang War (1958) | Correct year but no way to tell Champion vs Commander from exterior in '56 other than by front fender and trunklid nameplates. | 2010-05-22 15:47 | |
| 1940 Studebaker Champion Club Sedan [Series G] My One and Only (2009) |
Believe it's a '40. Champions in 1940 had the same spacing of grille bars in both the center and side grilles while '39's had wider spaced bars in the center section. |
2010-05-22 15:45 | |
| 1953 Studebaker Champion Regal Starliner Les distractions (1960) |
I am changing to Champion. While the photo is blurry, that appears to be a circle-S, rather than a V-8 emblem, on the rear fender. |
2010-05-22 15:42 | |
| 1946 Studebaker Champion Skyway The Lineup (1958) |
Identification appears correct. (For historical note, there were only Champions in 1946) |
2010-05-22 15:39 | |
| 1947 Studebaker Champion Cuore di mamma (1969) |
Definitely Champion, per taillamp style. Bumper guards are obscured which could have narrowed down year. '47 to '49 is correct range, but doubt '49 as bumper does not appear to be wrapped. -- Last edit: 2010-05-22 15:36:04 |
2010-05-22 15:35 | |
| 1956 Studebaker Flight Hawk [56B C3] Slap af, Frede! (1966) |
Either a Power or Flight Hawk. They were identical from the exterior except for the trunklid nameplates which cannot be read from this distance. Year ID is correct. |
2010-05-22 15:32 | |
| 1947 Studebaker Champion Convertible Partner (1968) |
Appears to have the short front clip of a Champion. And from what I can see of the rear bumper guards, I would say 1947. |
2010-05-22 15:29 | |
| 1963 Studebaker Lark The World According to Garp (1982) | Yes. | 2010-05-20 23:52 | |
| 1964 Studebaker Daytona Wagonaire The Middle (2009-2013) |
This is a 1964 Daytona Wagonaire. Note dark insert in side trim, used only by '64 Daytonas. The '65's had a light colored insert, the same as the Cruiser. |
2010-05-20 23:32 | |
| 1928 Ford Model A Roadster Glückskinder (1936) | 1928 or 1929 | 2010-05-20 23:26 | |
| 1982 Dodge Aries K El ataque de los pájaros (1987) |
Believe this is an '81 to '83 Aries. Note there is no higher top chrome grille piece and the horizontal bars appear heavier than the Reliant version. Also, the Aries grille is slightly wrapped, as this one appears to be. Not an '84, since no star ornament in the grille center. |
2010-05-19 15:07 | |
| 1955 Studebaker Commander Wonder Woman (1976-1979) | Since there has been no further dissent or thoughts, I am changing this back to Champion. | 2010-05-19 14:56 | |
| 1941 Cadillac Series 63 Touring Sedan Bugsy (1991) |
That Packard is pre-'40. Note the chrome running down from the headlamps. 1940 models had side grilles in this position. This is a 1939 at the latest. |
2010-05-03 15:21 | |
| 1941 Cadillac Series 63 Touring Sedan Bugsy (1991) |
Which car? Rear car looks like a '41 Cadillac. Front car appears to be a Packard in the '36 to '39 period. |
2010-05-02 22:49 | |
| 1935 Ford V8 [48] Bugsy (1991) | Looks like a '35 Ford from here. | 2010-05-02 22:46 | |
| 1975 Ford LTD Tropical Heat (1991-1993) |
'75 to '77 range. -- Last edit: 2010-05-03 15:23:27 |

| 1955 Studebaker Commander Wonder Woman (1976-1979) |
Whoa there. We cannot say that is a V-8 trunklid emblem from this distance. The Champion had a V-S emblem in the same position with the same interlaced design. The reason Champion came into the discussion is because there is no visible side nameplate. Commanders and Presidents had a nameplate on the leading section of the rear quarters while Champions had no side nameplates at all. While I admit the photo is blurry and there COULD be a plate there I can't see, I went with Champion based on the visible evidence. (Firebird's link DOES show a nameplate on the rear quarter so that one is definitely not a Champion.) That also sure looks like a "B" pillar on the photo'ed car. Again, the photo is blurry and it could just be the window border but owing to its apparent thickness, I went with a coupe listing. Does anyone else want to weigh in? Should we leave this as Commander or change to Champion? -- Last edit: 2010-05-02 22:41:39 |

| 1958 Lincoln Premiere Landau The Sound and the Fury (1959) |
No, that's a standard Lincoln (Capri or Premier). The Continental Mark III had an eggcrate grille. |
2010-05-02 17:21 | |
| 1960 Chevrolet JFK (1991) | Yep. | 2010-05-02 17:14 | |
| 1961 Cadillac Series 62 JFK (1991) |
Correcting this to 1961. Note chrome border on the fin tops. That was not present on '62's. |
2010-05-02 17:12 | |
| 1940 Cadillac Fleetwood 60 Special Bugsy (1991) | Appears to be a 1940 Cadillac Series 60 Special. | 2010-05-02 17:03 | |
| 1950 Studebaker Commander Regal De Luxe Starlight Coupe Deuces Wild (2002) |
This is a 1950 model. The car has a one-piece windshield because it is a Starlight Coupe, not because it is a '51. (All Starlights, convertibles and Land Cruisers had one-piece windshields from '47 on.) Note also '50 style trunk lid handle, bumper guards and taillamps. The chrome gravel shields CAN be used in this case to denote this a Commander Regal Deluxe since it is a Starlight coupe (but convertible Champions also had them). This one can also be ID'ed as a Commander owing to the hood ornament style and Commander style bumper guards. Also, the fender top ornaments are long and low. The optional '50 Champion fender ornaments were shorter and had a "bump" on top (identical to 1951 units). -- Last edit: 2010-05-02 16:58:16 |

| 1949 Buick Super Heaven Help Us (1985) |
It's a '49 Super. (Remember, '49 Specials still used '48 styling) |
2010-05-01 16:50 | |
| 1963 Studebaker Avanti Il giovedi (1963) |
For the record, the first 50 or so 1964 Avantis carried 1963 (round headlamp bezel) styling. (Sounds like a miniscule percentage until you note that only 809 '64 Avantis were built!) |
2010-05-01 00:25 | |
| 1959 Chevrolet Corvette [C1] Trancers II (1991) |
Oops. You are right, Cougar. |
2010-04-30 15:29 | |
| 1959 Chevrolet Corvette [C1] Trancers II (1991) | They (2 chrome bars) were actually across the decklid. | 2010-04-29 22:09 | |
| 1958 Chrysler New Yorker Convertible [LC3-H] Il giovedi (1963) | 1958 | 2010-04-29 22:02 | |
| 1951 GMC 2-Ton Angel in My Pocket (1969) |
I believe we should label this as a 1951. Reasoning: Note the side door vent windows (first used in 1951). And while the photo is blurry, the door handles appear to still be of the twist type. (Push button handles were introduced for 1952) |
2010-04-28 15:56 | |
| 1991 Buick Park Avenue Ultra Desperate Housewives (2004-2012) |
Yes, Park Avenue Ultra. You can just see the round medallion on the front fender next to the fence post and that is PAU side trim. This body design spanned the years 1991 to 1996. -- Last edit: 2010-04-28 15:52:34 |
2010-04-28 15:51 | |
| 1973 Cadillac Sedan DeVille The Midnight Man (1974) |
I agree with that last part. But, owing to enlarged appearing front bumper with rubber edging, I believe this is actually a 1973 model. -- Last edit: 2010-04-28 15:44:23 |
2010-04-27 15:47 | |
| 1980 Ford LTD-S [54D] Hunter (1984-1991) | With no hood ornament, I would go with 1980. | 2010-04-27 15:27 | |
| 1956 Oldsmobile 98 Holiday Sedan The Creeping Terror (1964) | Correct, per side trim pattern. | 2010-04-27 15:22 | |
| 1952 Packard 200 [2501] The Creeping Terror (1964) |
1951's had the "PACKARD" name across the front of the hood and thinner bumper guards. This one is actually a '52. -- Last edit: 2011-02-28 17:11:22 |
2010-04-27 15:21 | |
| 1963 GMC 1000 The Midnight Man (1974) | Latest possible year = 1963, per wrap-around windshield. | 2010-04-27 14:58 | |
| 1982 Plymouth Gran Fury Farscape (1999-2003) | Um....let's go with Gran Fury. | 2010-04-25 21:22 | |
| 1959 Studebaker Lark I Spy (1965-1968) |
I don't have much info on Studebaker's foreign-built and export models but I'm pretty sure they did make right had drive vehicles. BTW, from the photo'ed car's angle, cannot tell if '59 or '60. Would need a much closer and clearer view of the taillamp lenses. Since we usually use the first year of a known span, will change to 1959. -- Last edit: 2010-05-09 05:15:52 |
2010-04-25 21:17 | |
| 1984 Cadillac Sedan DeVille Stretched Limousine Hunter (1984-1991) |
Probably a 1984 model. Winged crest first appeared on the parking lamp lenses that year and this was an '84 show, although late enough that the '85's could have been released. Listing as '84. |
2010-04-25 16:09 | |
| 1977 Chevrolet Impala Hunter (1984-1991) |
So then a Caprice, but with a 1977 Impala grille? (An "Impalece"?) -- Last edit: 2010-04-25 21:19:12 |
2010-04-24 17:07 | |
| 1984 Dodge Aries K Hunter (1984-1991) |
Correct. This was one of the last "one-year-only" front designs placed on a car, a practice that was once so common (and made car identification so much easier!). |
2010-04-24 16:26 | |
| 1955 Cadillac No Mercy: Where Do You Go (1996) |
I think it's just the light/reflections, corolere. Note also the narrower crest inside the "V". In '56, they went with a shorter, fatter crest design. Also, the '56 "V" was widened (opened at a less sharp angle). This is definitely a '55 assuming no modifications. |
2010-04-24 16:23 | |
| 1941 Ford ½-Ton Pick-Up [11C] Pure Luck (1991) | Looks like a Ford truck with a '41 Ford car front grafted on. | 2010-04-24 16:18 | |
| 1977 Chevrolet Impala Hunter (1984-1991) | That's a '77 Impala grille, not a '78. | 2010-04-24 16:14 | |
| 1964 Cadillac Fleetwood 75 Emergency! (1972-1978) |
Agreed. (Or a '65, which continued 1964 styling in the non-commercial Series 75 line.) |
2010-04-24 16:07 | |
| 1954 Plymouth Savoy Min vän shejken i Stureby (1997) |
Marking this as the middle-grade Savoy series. (The lower Plaza had no body side chrome and the higher Belvedere had small chrome finlets) |
2010-04-24 16:04 | |
| 1995 Lincoln Town Car The Gift (2001) |
The easiest way to differentiate '90 to '94's from '95 to '97's from the side is to see if the car has double bar side trim ('90 to '94) or single bar ('95 to '97). The above car has the double bar trim = '90 to '94. From the rear, the latter 3 years have 2 extra vertical chrome pieces bisecting the horizontal reflector panel. -- Last edit: 2010-04-24 15:58:05 |
