| 1979 Ford LTD [54H] Mystery Date (1991) | 1979 and 80 were the only years for this type of door mirror. | 2009-12-14 22:49 | |
| 1980 Ford LTD [54H] Sólo quiero caminar (2008) | And these Mexican cars had the Mexican block 351 V8 that wasn't plagued by emissions equipment. | 2009-12-14 22:43 | |
| 1975 Ford LTD Telefon (1977) | You can rule out 1975 because 75's had body color filled divider bars in the turn signals. 76-78's had argent like this one. And since Telefon was shot in 1977 I go for either 76 or 77. | 2009-12-14 22:38 | |
| 1975 Ford LTD Telefon (1977) | Unusual to see the LTD with cornering lights and wheels with poverty caps. | 2009-12-14 22:36 | |
| 1973 Ford LTD Wagon Better Off Dead... (1985) | Is the title of the film refering to the car? It's probably better left dead after that dive. | 2009-12-14 22:33 | |
| 1971 Ford LTD No tiene la culpa el Indio (1978) |
That stupid bar across the grill as stpaulcarguy says is a dead giveaway this is a Mexican built LTD. Also the 351 badge on the front fenders and the hubcaps spell Mexican to me. Some of these early 71's were equipped with 69-70 Dashes. Probably leftovers. The only available engine was the Mexican cast 351 'windsor' V8 with a 4 barrel carb and 255 horsepower. |
2009-12-14 22:25 | |
| 1971 Ford LTD Mother's Day (1980) | The lower line Fords had also such a badge. Not with LTD in it but 3 stylized lyons. And this being a police car, or at least one dressed up as one it is more likely a Custom or a Galaxie. | 2009-12-14 22:18 | |
| 1960 Ford Galaxie Sunliner Father Came Too! (1963) |
Model origin of this particular car is Canada. It is a RHD version fully imported from Canada. These used the 1959 Edsel dashboard. |
2009-12-14 22:07 | |
| 1978 AMC Matador Barcelona Wonder Woman (1976-1979) | Matador as in Spanish bull fighter. I suppose they wanted to give it a European flair. | 2009-06-14 20:30 | |
| 1974 Ford Torino Gli Esecutori (1976) | If you look closely at the hind quarters, you can see the lower bumper. The 73's had a higher bumper with the taillights integrated in the bumper. The front carries the 73-74 only Torino nose. Gran Torino's had a more luxurious front end. From 75 to 76 the Base Torino's shared the Gran Torino nose. | 2009-06-14 20:23 | |
| 1961 Plymouth Coronado The Protectors (1972-1973) |
Luis, The mechanicals are straightforward Mopar parts. Look for 1961 Belvedere and Fury parts. |
2009-06-14 20:04 | |
| 1973 Rambler Ambassador Sweeney 2 (1978) |
The literature I own clearly says "built in the UK" The RHD dashboard was also handcrafted by a couchbuilder. It also has a small caption of the other AMC models available only in LHD form. Apparently only the Ambassador and the Matador and earlier Rebels were built with RHD straight from the factory. |
2009-06-14 19:57 | |
| 1974 Ford Galaxie 500 Four Door Pillared Hardtop Sedan [53F] The Driver (1978) | This is 1974 Galaxie, the simpler front end of the "low-series" Fords got vertical strips for 1974. The eggcrate of 73 is much simpler in appearance. The upmarked LTD was even more elaborate. | 2009-06-14 19:49 | |
| 1967 Imperial LeBaron [CY1-H43] Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. (1964-1969) |
Obviously like so many series in the sixties, this was a Chrysler sponsored affair. If you want to see a nice convertible 67 Imperial smashed to bits, see Point Blank with Lee Marvin. |
2009-06-14 19:41 | |
| 1966 Ford Custom Four Door Sedan [54B] Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. (1964-1969) |
A Custom 500 with a V8 bigger than the 289. The big block engine's received a fender mounted badge with the cubic inches in it. Taxi models had either the 240 inline six, or the small 289 V8. This leads me to believe this is a retired cop unit turned into taxi, as often was the case. |
2009-06-14 19:38 | |
| 1984 Lincoln Continental Reversal of Fortune (1990) | These were actually available with a Diesel engine. Finding one of those in good condition is very rare. Most came with the venerable 302cid 5.0 liter V-8 either carbureted uptil 1982 or single point fuel injection from 83 to 85 from 86 to 87 these had the mpfi 5.0. The Diesel is the most interesting, in that it came from BMW. It was the 2.4 liter inline 6 Diesel, that had a tough time hauling the big Lincoln around. Not many were sold that way. This engine was also briefly available in the Mark V11. | 2009-06-14 19:31 | |
| 1968 Plymouth Sport Fury Fugitives Run (2003) | It's a 68 model. Clearly visible are the front and rear model year changes for 1968. All 1968 American cars had to have side marker lights as dictated by the government as well. A good telltale to spot post 1968 cars. The Fury got different headlight bezels. And the rear deck was squared off, with a full width taillight look. This example is a sport fury. That means nice equipment, nothing sporting really. Engines up to 426 cbic inch available. This one provably carries the more comon 318 or 383 mill. | 2009-06-14 19:26 | |
| 1970 Plymouth Fury I Flodder (1986) | Slant six 3 on the tree. Never seen one optioned higher than that. | 2008-12-13 10:00 | |
| 1956 Plymouth Plaza Taxi [P-28] Return of the Fly (1959) | Could also be a DeSoto Diplomat. These used enhanced Plymouth front clips. | 2008-12-13 09:56 | |
| 1973 Rambler Ambassador Sweeney 2 (1978) |
The brochures are definately Britisch not Australian. These cars were assembled in a plant near London. "chiswick flyover" It is according to this literature the same facility that built the Nash Metropolitan in the 1950's. Parts were flown in as CKD no doubt. Is there anyone out there that knows more? |
2008-12-13 09:53 | |
| 1974 Plymouth Satellite Cocaine Cowboys (2006) | This is its cousin, the Plymouth Satellite. It has a different taillight set up. | 2008-08-24 20:51 | |
| 1973 Rambler Ambassador Sweeney 2 (1978) |
Actually this must be a British assembled Rambler Ambassador! There was a small factory that built these cars in Britain. I collected several brochures to prove it. RHD too! |
2008-08-24 20:44 | |
| 1986 Ford Taurus Run for the Money (2002) |
Even before police package was available some of these were turned into police vehicles. Robocop has them as well. Lookes sort of futuristic I suppose. |
2008-05-25 12:32 | |
| 1956 Plymouth Plaza Taxi [P-28] Return of the Fly (1959) | It's a Canadian Dodge Regent. Also built for export. Plymouth frontclip. | 2008-05-25 12:19 | |
| 1971 Ford LTD Brougham Hardtop Sedan [57H] The French Connection (1971) | Thanks for these pictures! | 2008-01-07 21:34 | |
| 1986 Ford LTD Crown Victoria Fargo (1996) | You gotta eat breakfast first margie! | 2008-01-07 21:27 | |
| 1986 Dodge Diplomat Licence to Kill (1989) | Caravelle was the name for these cars built in Canada. In Europe these were LeBarons. | 2008-01-07 21:26 | |
| 1975 Chrysler Cordoba Wonder Woman (1976-1979) | You are right. But my point is they look alike. | 2008-01-07 21:18 | |
| 1968 Mercury Cougar Wonder Woman (1976-1979) | Yeah it could be!! | 2008-01-07 21:16 | |
| 1963 Ford Fairlane 500 Wonder Woman (1976-1979) | Skinny and high on testosteron. ugh! | 2008-01-07 21:16 | |
| 1973 Chevrolet Bel Air [K69] Twin Falls Idaho (1999) |
More likely a 1973 Bel air or Biscayne. Taxi cabs were almost always the low series cars. |
2008-01-07 20:56 | |
| 1956 Plymouth Plaza Taxi [P-28] Return of the Fly (1959) | Never saw these fins before on a 56. Is this something Australian or Canadian? | 2007-10-14 00:26 | |
| 1970 Plymouth Fury I Flodder (1986) |
It's another Belgian assembled Fury 1 lengthened for taxi use. |
2007-10-14 00:14 | |
| 1968 Plymouth Fury II Vodkaa, Komisario Palmu (1969) | This film bristles with classic mopars. Where can I get a copy? | 2007-10-14 00:13 | |
| 1961 Plymouth Coronado The Protectors (1972-1973) | Thanks for the Coronado story. Interesting cars. I know of a 59 Chrysler that was converted this way. It may be a one off. | 2007-10-14 00:02 | |
| 1957 Plymouth Belvedere Convertible Zazie dans le métro (1960) | Nice to see it among contemporary european cars. It must have been quite something to see it in traffic. | 2007-10-13 23:57 | |
| 1965 Plymouth Belvedere Vodkaa, Komisario Palmu (1969) | American cars have always been popuar in Finland. I would love to see more pics of these.. | 2007-10-13 23:52 | |
| 1961 Plymouth Belvedere Hot Rods to Hell (1967) | In the day jokes were made about these "oddly" styled cars. A boy would say when he entered his father's garage: "mommy mommy a monster ate my bycicle!" | 2007-10-13 23:48 | |
| 1961 Plymouth Belvedere Communion (1976) | It's a regular sedan, not a hardtop. | 2007-10-13 23:34 | |
| 1958 Plymouth Belvedere 7-passenger Necronomicon - Geträumte Sünden (1968) | There was one built in 1960 I believe with the fins taken off, for the Belgian royals. Story goes the queen didn't like the tail fins. I wonder where it is now. | 2007-10-13 23:32 | |
| 1969 Plymouth Barracuda Customized Knight Rider (1982-1986) | Probably another Barris creation. Always using those rectangular headlights.. | 2007-10-13 23:29 | |
| 1983 Ford LTD Crown Victoria Funny Farm (1988) | Yeah, my sentiments exactly when I saw that film. I own a Marquis with the same colors. Beautiful riding cars | 2007-10-13 22:23 | |
| 1983 Ford LTD Crown Victoria Backdraft (1991) | Fire inspector's often used Police type fleet cars. This one might be equipped with the 351 VV police interceptor. | 2007-10-13 22:16 | |
| 1981 Ford LTD Coupé [66H] Mac and Me (1988) | Panther body as they are called at Ford. Mercury Marquis and Ford Ltd. Single headlamp 80-82 "S" models are rare. | 2007-10-13 22:14 | |
| 1980 Ford LTD [54H] Waterproof (1999) |
79 ltd's had flush mounted rearview mirrors. From 1981 up these were replaced with the more attractive "free standing" rearview mirrors |
2007-10-13 22:08 | |
| 1980 Ford LTD [54H] Waterproof (1999) |
These were equipped with either a 302 5 liter or a 5.8 liter Windsor v8. Both with the VV carb. Variable Venturi. A good idea carb, but not very reliable. Most were replaced with conventional 2v type carbs. |
2007-10-13 22:07 | |
| 1984 Mercury Topaz GL Ghost Busters (1984) |
In Mexico these were marketed as Ford Topaz. With Tempo front clip and Topaz body. Also in the States you could get a Diesel engine. |
2007-10-13 21:10 | |
| 1986 Mercury Sable Metro (1997) | I owned one of these. Very nice riding car. Crappy transmission. | 2007-10-13 21:08 | |
| 1960 Mercury Commuter Country Cruiser [77A] The AbsentMinded Professor (1961) | This is a commuter with a roof I have never seen. It is raised somewhat. It might therefore be an Amblewagon conversion. Which makes it double rare. Also it is a hardtop stationwagon! | 2007-10-13 21:06 | |
| 1980 Chevrolet Impala De fabriek (1981) | Car was popular taxi in Netherlands. Most were propane powered. | 2007-03-17 22:00 |
