1993 Mercedes-Benz Bestattungswagen Rappold 'Heidelberg' [W124]
Tatort - Himmel und Erde (1993)
Coachwork by Rappold of Wülfrath/ Germany, body style called "Heidelberg". The paint scheme reveals that the car was rent from southern Germany´s well known funeral director "Denk". 2007-12-20 21:15
1990 Mercedes-Benz Bestattungswagen Pollmann [W124]
Ma vie en l'air (2005)
Junkman wrote It is a French built hearse on the old Mercedes E-Class chassis. Albeit I cannot tell the coachbuilder for certain, the hearse looks very much like the ones built by a company called Direct Medical back in the 80s.

Though I´ve never heard of Direct Medical by now, they seem to have bought the cars by themselves, like in many cases. Quite often, there´s some badge of a dealer on it, but the coachwork was in fact done somewhere else. This one looks totally like a Pollmann to me.

1990 Mercedes-Benz Bestattungswagen 200 D Stolle [W124]
Auf Achse (1978-1996)

This is the Landrover TD5 hearse belonging to the fleet of http://www.4x4funerals.co.uk/ . The hearse conversion has been carried out by Foley Specialist Vehicles of Essex/ UK. 2007-12-20 21:02
1979 Ford LTD Wagon
Dublerzy (2006)
qwerty_86 wrote That's an interesting roof rack.

This kind of roof rack was very typical for hearses being used in Belgium (and Luxemburg sometimes).

1978 Ford Granada Ligvogn 2.3 Sæby MkII
Adams æbler (2005)
Coachwork seems to be done by Sæby of Denmark.

Ford Granada Mk3,more probably bodied by Coleman or Crayford(specialists to modify Ford bodies)

As far as I can detect it´s a Coleman-Milne Cardinal on Ford Granada/ Scorpio chassis

1973 Ford LTD Funeral Coach Abbott & Hast
Columbo: Last Salute to the Commodore (1976)
I follow Adam the 3rd time agreeing that this coachwork was done by Abbott & Hast. ;) 2007-12-20 20:50
1975 Ford LTD Funeral Coach Abbott & Hast 'Junior Hearse'
An Officer and a Gentleman (1982)
I couldn´t have explained better. Yes, it´s Abbott & Hast.

1996 Daimler X3000 Hearse by Eagle Specialist Vehicles [X300]
Midsomer Murders (1997-2013)
Yes, I´d also say it was Eagle Specialist Vehicles. 2007-12-20 20:47
1971 Dodge Polara Funeral Coach Abbott & Hast
CHiPs (1977-1983)
I´ll second my PCS fellow Adam, tending to identify it as a Abbott & Hast conversion. 2007-12-20 20:45
1977 Citroën CX Bestattungswagen Rappold
Tatort - Kielwasser (1984)
Judging from the drapes it was converted by Rappold of Wülfrath/ Germany. 2007-12-20 20:43
1987 Chevrolet Caprice Wagon
La Taupe (2007)
Belgian coachwork which could have been done by almost every bodyshop around there. 2007-12-20 20:40
1938 Chevrolet Master ½ Ton Hearse [HC]
The Cars That Ate Paris (1974)
Australian coachbuilder for sure, but no recognizable characteristics. 2007-12-20 20:39
1968 Cadillac Funeral Coach Superior Sovereign Landaulet Combination
Knight Rider (1982-1986)
No, it´s definitely not a Miller-Meteor but a Superior Landau. Note the curved roof line, called the "Superior Criterion styling". 2007-12-20 20:35
1957 Cadillac Funeral Coach Eureka Landau
Quantum Leap (1989-1993)
yvon52 wrote Coachbuilder is Eureka (100% sure).

Correct! An Eureka Landau. Note the curved frame on the rear door and the characteristic coach lamp which make it easy to recognize the hearse as being built by Eureka Mfg. Co. of Rock Falls, Illinois/ USA.

1993 Cadillac Fleetwood Funeral Coach Yonezu Kobo
Wasabi (2001)
pilou wrote Looks like a hearse on a Cadillac Fleetwood 1995 base

Yes, 1993 - 1995 Fleetwood. Bodywork is pretty hard to find out, because Japanese hearses are mostly one-offs. I tend to identify it as a Yonezu Kobo body.

1984 Buick LeSabre Estate Wagon Funeral Coach S&S
Police Academy: Mission to Moscow (1994)
Coachwork supposedly done by S&S. 2007-12-20 20:16
1970 Cadillac Calais Flower Car McClain
The Seven-Ups (1973)
I´ll second the words of Mr. Cadillac: It´s a flower car conversion made by McClain Sales & Leasing Co. of Anderson, Indiana/ USA. 2007-12-20 20:14
Barkas B1000 KM
Polizeiruf 110 - Gesichter im Zwielicht (1973)
These ones were factory made hearses in GDR,so there´s no specific coachbuilder available. As to my knowledge, transformation (if you want to call it like this...) was done by state-owned enterprise IFA at Chemnitz (the artist formerly known as "Karl-Marx-Stadt"). 2007-12-20 20:13
1971 Bedford CF Carrozzeria Grazia
Cadaveri eccellenti (1976)
Oh my god! :wow: Using a Bedford CF as a ceremonial hearse appears to me like using a toilet brush for conducting an orchestra...

Anyway, the coachwork was most likely done by Carrozzeria Grazia of Bologna/ Italy (though there have been vast numbers of Italian hearse makers mutually copying their styles through the years).

1958 Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire 346 Hearse Woodall Nicholson Series II
The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down a Mountain (1995)
Sunbar wrote

 A 4x4 hearse, is there any job they they haven't converted a Land Rover for?

Oh, there´s more than one 4x4 hearse around. See a Landy, for example, here: http://www.4x4funerals.co.uk/

The other ones that were mentioned to be sold to Lybia were made by Pilcher-Greene of UK, while the silver Land Rover shown on the website was made by Foley of England.

But back to topic: The bodywork of this Armstrong Siddeley has been carried out by Alpe & Saunders Coachbuilders of Kew Gardens, London, UK. So I think we´re done with this one?

;)

1939 Austin Ten Van
Alleyn Mysteries (1990-1994)
At least it would never have been used as a hearse in the UK. Could be a former ambulance that has been retrained as an undertakers vehicle. 2007-12-20 19:53
Fiat Z-Range Zamyad
Offside (2006)
If I recall correctly, Italian busmaker Menarini offered such oddball type buses powered by Fiat. But I´m sure there were a couple of more companies becoming suspect for this vehicle of doubtful taste... 2007-12-20 19:44
Unknown Armored
Barrio (1998)
It might even be a VW LT. For armored vans are quite often one-offs, one mostly might only find out the responsible coachbuilder by accident. 2007-12-20 19:39
Mercedes-Benz [LN2]
Le solitaire (1987)
The series of these Mercedes trucks is called LN2, further details depend on the engine (e.g. 809, 814 etc.). The same cabin was used in the USA to provide a light series of Freightliner trucks, just combined with a conventional style front end (instead of making it a cabover). 2007-12-20 19:36
1978 Chevrolet Caprice Classic
Crazy Race (2003)
modell wrote Is that meant to look like the Bluesmobile?

Yes it is. The car belongs to a pair of guys that do Blues Brothers shows on classic car meetings in Germany. What you don´t see here in this pic is the gigantic loudspeaker that´s mounted instead of a trunk (Yes, trunk! Not on the roof in this case).

1964 Chevrolet Impala Convertible
Crazy Race (2003)
This Impala is a lowrider, well known by many shows and TV appearences in Germany. It is almost impossible to not know it if you´re a regular attendant at German US car meetings. It is owned by Clemens Verley, who supposedly was on the set during the filming. See this vehicle in motion here: http://www.myvideo.de/watch/2926234 2007-12-20 18:54
1932 Ford V8 Tudor
Crazy Race (2003)
A well known Hot Rod, often on display at shows in Germany. Even better known is the 64 Chevy Impala Lowrider. if you visit a German US car gathering, you might have a good chance to meet at least one of them. 2007-12-20 18:48

Concept Cars (1990)
I´m pretty sure there´s a feature on these concept cars in the book "Cars that never were" (which I can highly recommend!). What a shame I don´t have it with me, but maybe another reader is willing to follow my hint? 2007-12-20 18:09

Even Stevens (2000-2003)
Prinzing Motor Coach, LLC builds retro vehicles in a boxy style like that.

http://www.prinzingmc.com/professional.php

There was also a British Company called Vintage Carriages Co. which offered similar vehicles. Due to the series taking place in USA, I´m almost sure the shown vehicle is a Prinzing.

L'abonné de la ligne U (1964)
No Opel Blitz for sure! French hearses normally based on french chassis. I know several of these French ceremonial vehicles, but I never managed to find out the coachbuilder as well as the chassis provided.

No, it´s not an Senator A (1977 - 1986), but in fact the Opel Senator B (1987 onwards), which based on the Opel Omega A. This was filmed in Iraq, where many of these last big Opel sedans have gone in the last few years.

Pretty hard to identify. Most likely it was made by some Scandinavian coachbuilder. It´s a shame that many records of these firms are lost to history.

That´s a so called Divco Milk Truck. As far as I know, this was it´s official name. 2007-12-20 15:37
1982 Peugeot J5
Brice de Nice (2005)
It´s a Peugeot J5 or it´s brother Citroen C25. Both were used by the French police as well. Judging from the grille, it´s rather the Peugeot (C25 had an asymmetric grille). 2007-12-20 15:33
1995 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham

1963 Cadillac Fleetwood 60 Special (as Chaika)
Crazy Race 2 - Warum die Mauer wirklich fiel (2004)
To clear up the mess: It was a 1963 Cadillac Fleetwood Sixty Special, painted in black with a black vinyl roof and black leather throughout. As I was working in the company that loaned the car for production, I drove this very car quite often. It was disguised to play the role of a Chaika, indeed. The reason of using a Cadillac instead of a real Chaika is the following: In another scene of that movie you see the "Chaika" being torn apart by an explosion. Don´t worry, they didn´t do what you´re expecting...

To unmask another blooper: The exploded car wasn´t a Chaika, as well as it wasn´t the 1963 Fleetwood Sixty Special shown here. Instead they showed a wrecked 1961 or 1962 (don´t recall the correct model year right now) Cadillac Sedan Series 62, which had been resting on a junk yard for years. For it seemed rather impossible finding a defunct Chaika to tear apart, they decided to use the Cadillacs instead. All that info is assured, for I know both cars "in person" as well as the 1984 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz used in the same movie.

1957 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible
Mac and Me (1988)
... but with a very strange style of tonneau cover! Looks like a dummy to me. I don´t know the plot, but if the Caddy was to be wrecked during that movie, I´d guess they took a Coupe de Ville or Series 62 and cut off the roof for economical reasons. 2007-12-20 14:32
