| 1996 Mercedes-Benz Vario 612 D RTW [T2] Der große Bagarozy (1999) |
The number "510" shows the gross weight (5 t) and the horsepower (10 for 100 bhp). This vehicle was sold with higher or lower gross weight and horsepower ratings. "RTW" stands for "Rettungstransportwagen", meaning "rescue transport vehicle". Sometimes "KTW" (Krankentransportwagen = transport vehicle for the sick) or "NAW" (Notarztwagen = vehicle with emergency physician) is used. |

Here we have a link to show that it is Eureka: Link to "www.hearse.com" I am not too happy with the classification as "Pick-Up". This is certainly not wrong, but could we add the classification "Hearse"? |

| 1969 Roman R 19.215 DF Entre chiens et loups (2002) |
ROMAN is correct. This is one of the few Romanian truck makers with the official name "Intreprinderea de Autocamioane Brasov". They started making cars and trucks in the early 1920s with BMW engines. Later they only built locomotives, but returned to truck making in 1954 building Soviet ZIS. Since 1969 a cooperation with MAN led to the change of the name to ROMAN (= Romanian MAN). "F8" is certainly right for the lookalike MAN. Until we know better we should use it for the ROMAN, too. The suggested numbering, that shows the gross weight and the horsepower, is not necessarily correct. -- Last edit: 2005-10-09 17:39:44 |

| 1962 AC Shelby Cobra [CSX2019] Viva Las Vegas (1964) |
Now I get it! Well, its past midnight already... ![]() The make of this one is AC. After AC could no longer use the Bristol six cylinder engines, Carroll Shelby approached AC with the idea to use an American V8. According to his own web-page http://www.carrollshelby.com/ this combination of AC car with a Ford V8 small block is being sold under the name "Shelby-American". |

| 1974 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow I Entre chiens et loups (2002) |
Well, it's a Rolls-Royce, you can't take ordinary numbers! It has to be engraved and gold plated! ![]() As always this numbering only turns up once there is a second series, and very often it was not used at the time the cars were sold. This kind of labeling is more important for car historians and enthusiasts like us. I would go along wit the RREC and call it Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow I. |

The Roman 1 is actually used to distinguish between the models from 1965-76 and the second series from 1977-81. The latter ones had black rubber coated bumpers. See: http://www.rrec.co.uk/wc.dll?rrprocess~Guestloadhtm~/GUESTS/RRcars.htm They should know ![]() |

| 1947 Wolseley Oxford Taxi MkI The Ladykillers (1955) |
I just had another look at the film scenes. They really switch cars and pretend they are the same!! First we have the Austin FX3, numberplate FXK355 (/vehicle_11339-Austin-FX3.html). It starts of -- cut -- next scene we see the small image above on the left (http://img6.imageshack.us/my.php?image=theladykillers09austinfx37ok.jpg). That shows, as I now found out, a Beardmore. The following take shows the Austin again. /vehicle_11346-Scammell-Scarab.html /vehicle_11347-Bedford-Type+O.html It follows the truck that will be robbed. Cut. Now its the Beardmore behind that truck! Cut. Back to the Austin. /vehicle_11341-Austin-Type+K.html Cut. And the Beardmore again. http://img6.imageshack.us/my.php?image=theladykillers18austinfx35ra.jpg For the last scene it keeps being a Beardmore! And the numberplate is clearly FXK355. (image on this page) I have never before seen such a schizophrenic car! ![]() The goofs-section in IMDb (http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0048281/goofs) says that the second car is a Beardmore. Assuming that the writer is correct, we have a Beardmore Mk.V or Mk.VI of the late 1930's. I am still searching for images to confirm this. Have also a look at /movie_49470-The-man-who-knew-too-much.html |
2005-10-08 02:13 | |
| 1947 Wolseley Oxford Taxi MkI The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956) |
Nor am I! I got rather confused with those London Taxis while classifing "The Ladykillers". /movie_48281-The-Ladykillers.html There we have an Austin FX3 and a taxi which probably is a pre-war Beardmore -- both with the same numberplate and playing the same car in one scene switching roles several times!! I am now pretty shure that the car we have here is a Beardmore Mk.V or Mk.VI. -- Last edit: 2005-10-08 02:12:51 |

| 1969 Mercedes-Benz 230 Ambulans Binz Europ 1200 L [W114] Mannen på taket (1976) |
Mercedes-Benz "/8" [W114/W115] (1968-76). The "/8" ("Strich-Acht", translated "dash-eight") is the unofficial name by which this car is known. It stems from the year of introduction ('68). The W114 was the six cylinder range (230.6 - 250 - 250 (2.8) - 280 - 280E), the W115 the four cylinder range (200 - 220 - 230.4 - 200D - 220D - 240D - 240D 3.0). In this case it is most likely a W115. The ambulance conversion was most probably made by Binz. http://www.airrescue.boo.pl/zdjecia/1104091217W114-binz-ambulance.jpg |

| 1973 Sunbeam 1600 De Luxe Mannen på taket (1976) |
It is a Hillman Avenger (1970-76). Some background trivia: From 1977-1979 it was rebadged as Chrysler Avenger, and after that until 1981 as Talbot Avenger. In the US it was sold as Plymouth Cricket from 1971-73. Chrysler do Brasil made it from 1972 to 1981 as the Dodge 1800 and, later, the Dodge Polara. After 1981 a facelifted version of the car was made until 1990 in Argentina by the Volkswagen-Audi Group as the VW 1500. |
