| Dick Tracy (1990) |
Animatronixx ![]() | Yes, that's it as far as I recall. They wanted the cars to look more 'generic', just to support the comic strip atmosphere. | 2009-06-10 00:46

| 1937 De Soto Coupe [S-3] Dick Tracy (1990) | pitts | The yellow coupe is actually a 37 Desoto as it is in my brothers garage in Sydney, Australia. He recently imported it from the US. Great fun to drive! The car has bullet holes in the front fender and bonnet on the passenger side, runs a 331 hemi with twin carburettors and original auto. Looks great! | 2006-01-02 10:23 | |

| 1937 Studebaker Dictator 6 Dick Tracy (1990) |
DAF555 ![]() | Itīs a mirror of the time, when the military was in fashion. Commander, President were other Studebakers of the time. Opel had the Kapitän and Admiral. | 2005-12-02 19:50

| 1937 Studebaker Dictator 6 Dick Tracy (1990) |
DAF555 ![]() | I go along with that, it resembles of that in many ways. I havnīt seen the comics but I think they were of the late thirties, maybe the original drawings looked something like this, and thatīs the reason that all cars are modified? |

| 1937 De Soto Coupe [S-3] Dick Tracy (1990) |
DAF555 ![]() | Another Chrysler Corp from 1937 or 1938. I guess itīs Dodge 1937 mostly because of the hood ornament, but itīs hard to be absolutely sure. | 2005-12-02 19:04
| 1937 Studebaker Dictator 6 Dick Tracy (1990) |
Jun ![]() | I think it's 1937 Studebaker Dictator Coupe. But,broad metal plate added radiator grill, front fender cutted and rear window opening is differlent. Dick Tracy is based on comics and "Walt Disney"movie. I wonder it is remodeled so as not to feel the reality. |

| 1939 Divco-Twin Model U Dick Tracy (1990) |
antp ![]() | That's annoying these companies that change their names. We only two Divco on IMCDB, and they do not even have the same make name By the way, the link that you posted allowed me to put a model name on this other Divco -- Last edit: 2005-11-25 21:47:04 |

| 1939 Divco-Twin Model U Dick Tracy (1990) |
Alexander ![]() | I knew this van, but could not think of the name -- thank you! Now I found a nice page (http://www.divco.org/) which gives a lot of background information. This shape was designed in 1937, entered production in 1939 and stayed unchanged until 1986! Between 1936 and 1944 this company was known as Divco-Twin. If we assume that this is one of the first models then it is the 'Divco-Twin Model U' (1939). -- Last edit: 2005-11-25 21:31:14 |

| 1938 Cadillac Series 75 V8 Formal Sedan Dick Tracy (1990) |
pilou ![]() | The second small picture right shows a rather good sideview of the car identifying it as a Cadillac Series 75 V8 Formal Sedan of 1938. On the small picture left one can see that the original grille has been covered with four large fake chrome bars but the Cadillac goddess mascot of the 1938 V8 cars is still there to betray its origin! | 2005-11-23 16:15

| Dick Tracy (1990) |
pilou ![]() | As stated with the individual cars , most of them appearing in this movie seem to have been modified or disguised to some extent .I do not know the reason for this .May be to depart from connotation with existing makes to render them more neutral or for merchandising/marketing/patenting/trade mark reasons ? (some of the cars seen here have been reproduced as toys). All cars are from the second half of the thirties , fitting in Tracy's original strip cartoon stories. | 2005-11-23 13:57
| 1937 Plymouth 2-Passenger Coupe [P-3] Dick Tracy (1990) |
pilou ![]() | Base of the car may be a 1937 Plymouth 2 passenger coupe with once more in this movie a heavily modified front. | 2005-11-23 13:46
| 1937 Dodge Touring Sedan [D-5] Dick Tracy (1990) |

| 1937 Dodge Touring Sedan [D-5] Dick Tracy (1990) |
pilou ![]() | The car in the explosion scene on the small picture is another one , a General Motors small body of 1937 , I think a Buick Special four-door touring sedan rather than an Oldsmobile or a Pontiac , because it has the standing lights on the front wings and it has not the taillights mounted high at the belt molding as the Oldsmobile. However front grille may also have been modified.Difficult to see on the picture | 2005-11-23 13:34
| 1939 Chevrolet Master De Luxe Four-Door Sport Sedan [JA] Dick Tracy (1990) |

| 1936 Ford V8 Standard Fordor [68] Dick Tracy (1990) |
pilou ![]() | Ford Model 68 V8 Fordor sedans of 1936.Again in this movie the cars have been disguised with a smaller front grille and another trunk line | 2005-11-23 10:27
| 1937 Dodge Touring Sedan [D-5] Dick Tracy (1990) |
pilou ![]() | The green car is a Dodge D 5 5-passenger Touring Sedan of 1937. | 2005-11-23 10:23
| 1936 Dodge Standard [D-2] Dick Tracy (1990) |
pilou ![]() | The police car in the front is a Ford model 68 V8 Fordor sedan , but again in this movie with a modified/disguised grille thet is smaller than the original .Behind the police car is a 1936 Dodge D2 standard four-door sedan .The standard sedan still had the rear-mounted spare-wheel whereas the Touring Sedan had an integrated trunk. | 2005-11-23 09:34
| 1936 Ford V8 De Luxe Coupe [68] Dick Tracy (1990) |
pilou ![]() | This is a Ford Model 68 V8 5-window Coupe of 1936 , but the grille has been modified and disguised as is the case with other cars in this movie and is smaller than the original stock grille. | 2005-11-23 09:21
| 1938 Chevrolet Master Town Sedan [HB] Dick Tracy (1990) |
pilou ![]() | This one is a completely original Chevrolet Master Series 2-door Town Sedan with the integral trunk of 1938 . | 2005-11-23 09:16
| 1937 Chrysler Royal Six Dick Tracy (1990) |
pilou ![]() | The base here is undoubtedly a Chrysler Royal Six four door sedan from 1937 , but the grille ,headlights and sides of the hood have been modified .The car also has a non-stock hood emblem. In this movie many cars were more or less "camouflaged" probably to render them more neutral and independent of makes. | 2005-11-23 09:11
