The releasing of the K-, J- and whatever- cars where the "casket-nail" (a direct translation from German) for the reputation of the US-car-companies. The US-cars after that time had the worst reputation in Europe (with only a very few exceptions): ugly, very lame, unreliable, uninteresting technology, high fuel consumption.
