The British police would use even smaller, less powerful cars for panda patrol [suburban policing] to assist foot patrol officers. Panda patrol cars came 'sans' flashing lights & siren. Usually having just a taxi-style sign that lit-up on the roof decaled POLICE. Panda cars are sort of comparable to cars used today by North American city police for parking patrol.
