rtsbusman1997 wrote As far as I know, it was. Many american cars sold in countries like France and Germany are not the same as the versions sold here in America. That is why some European and surrounding countries makes plates that are are fitting with US plat slots.

I understand that cars built for the US are different than cars built for EU (or anywhere else for that matter) but most, if not all cars built for a country have license plate opening that fit the country that they are built for... AFAIK plates like these are made either for motorbikes or for cars that aren't "built for" the country that they are in and therefore do not have the proper space for the plate. This car looks like it has had it's rear sidemarker covered up (I take it because of some law regarding them) and looks to be a US-Spec car retrofitted to F-spec's.

tonkatracker USwas there not a discussion on here about them being retro-fitted onto other cars? Isn't this say just a US Spec car with the rear sidemarkers covered up and yellow lamps fitted in? Wouldn't a car that was actually made for France have a spot for the french sized plate to mount instead of a US one?

Or I could be wrong?

I doubt in 528. :/ The production of carburettered 528 ceased in August 1977.
The fuel-injected 528i came out with extra chrome strips around grill.
