Hmmm... I say nothing about that. Only one example: the fantastic (surrealiste) film "Un soir, un train" (1968), with Yves Montand and Anouk Aimee, made by your compatriot Andre Delvaux, is a masterpiece. Is one of my favourite movies. ;)

OK sir, sorry sir, never again sir! :)

This is already a classic.

Anna M. (2007) Sandie SXI see plenty of 1980-85 cars at classic car shows and in classic car magazines... Sometimes even newer cars than that. So obviously some people consider them to be classics. There is a growing amount of interest in these cars. I prefer to see a rare car from the eighties than something like a Beetle, Minor or MGB which is done to death at such shows.

Andre Malraux wrote But a 1985 car (a 27 years old car) is still not classic.

Depends for who... To me it is.
Back then I doubt that a 1958 car was seen in the same way as now.
You also have to take age of "viewer" in account.

Nightrider wrote Today's cars just doesn't live so long.)

As Ingo said, lots of things were improved.
The current car of my mother is a Peugeot 106 that is 10-year old and works fine, no breakdown, no rust.
30 years ago she had a Renault 5 which after five years couldn't be used anymore in Belgium: too much rust to pass the technical inspection!
But now people change their car much faster than needed: how many perfectly fine cars end up in junkyards?

I think Nightrider wants to say that, today, people change cars too fast for they live a long time.

But even if they would live a long time, they wold not become classic. Take this 1985 Dacia 1310, for instance: Link to "www.daciaclub.ro" . Will never become classic, because the beautiful 1310 identical with R12 second series which we produced until '86 or '87 was destroyed with this ugly grill. It also has a very ugly steering wheel. :o

That's wrong, sorry. The mayn electronic items are indeed a problem for a log life, but the rust preservation and also the quality of the making are indeed better than in the past. Even as a classic car fan I have to admit that. But this doesn't change the fact, that all modern cars are boring anyways.

Anna M. (2007) Andre Malraux ROI don't think so. For instance: in 1985, a 1958 car (a then 27 years old car), was already classic. But a 1985 car (a 27 years old car) is still not classic. If, in 27 years, it not became classic, it means it will never become. The reason is simple: 1980s cars are too ugly for become classic. So are all post 1980 cars. :p
