1969 Dodge Charger
The Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning (2007)
moparguy1973 USAll the Chargers used in the movies are real 1969 Dodge Chargers. No one makes replicas, yet. But with all the hype about the "new, reproduction" Camaros, Mustangs, Belairs, and Novas, a "new" 69 Charger can't be far behind...let's at least hope it's not far behind. And in the series, the robbers hide gold dust behind the instrument panel, the sheriff runs them into a ditch, "wrecking" the car, then "something led Bo and Luke to that Capitol City junkyard, and right up to that wreck of an old black Charger. Sounds like a song ole' Willie would sing." Oddly enough, the junkyard owner later refers to the car as a "beat up black 68 coupe, looks like it went through a meat grinder". General Lee is a 1969 Charger, not a 68. So yes, this movie's explanation of the origin of the General could be considered incorrect. 2007-05-06 03:44
The Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning (2007) stpaulcarguy USOK this horse was beaten to death along time ago. There is no more need to make another dukes of hazzard movie. All this does is destroy more and more of these already rare and very beautiful cars. 2007-04-07 06:10

Quote They probably just used kit/replica cars for the stunts. I don't think a TV movie production would afford to use real Chargers.

As far as I know, there are no companies making replica dodge chargers, as the charger did not share any panels with any other dodge of the era, and they were built as uni-bodies (e.g. the frame rails are part of the body shell - no seperate chassis) so the only way to make a replica dodge charger would be to buy all the reproduction parts you could, and fabricate the rest yourself. It would be cheaper to simply buy one.

Ironically, a company called luedtke performance auto group claims to be the official supplier of general lees for the movie, but they are also known for buying barely running parts cars, giving them a coat of cheap orange paint and selling them as freshly restored general lees.

The Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning (2007) modell USThere are three chases-

One at the beginning of the movie when Bo is having his driver's test in the Volvo wagon but eventually winds up in a police chase. It ends with the wagon crashing a police car.

The second is between the BMW and the General Lee on the backgroads of Hazzard. The chase ends with the General crashing into a tree.

The third chase is the climax of the movie with an all out Blues Brothers-style chase in which the boys (in the General Lee) are being pursued by dozens of police cars. During this chase, they sucessfully jump the General Lee over a big ravine.

It's been a while since I've seen the 2005 movie, but I thought the car action was pretty good in this. I just wish they hadn't crashed that Charger though... :/

The Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning (2007)
qwerty_86 USYeah, and the black Charger was a base model with a bench seat and column shift automatic. The robbers wrecked it and the Duke boys bought the car from the junkyard. The robbers hid diamonds (I think) in the glovebox and they went after the Dukes to get the diamonds. That was a pretty cool episode. 2007-03-11 08:38
