tibi ![]() | Indeed a '66/67! 400 should be omitted in this case. |

| 1976 Plymouth Gran Fury The Gauntlet (1977) |
sarge619 ![]() | It is either a '76 or '77. The two-headlight front fascia WAS available in 1975 on the civilian Gran Fury Brougham version as opposed to the four-headlight nose, but it was NOT available on the police-package Gran Fury Pursuit. That particular headlight arrangement with intergral inboard vertical turn signals did not become available on Gran Fury Pursuits until the 1976 model year. In 1976 and 1977, all versions of the Gran Fury had the two-headlight nose, police or civilian. |

| 1973 Ford Torino The Gauntlet (1977) |
fordnmerc ![]() | The movie was shot in 1976, when these cars were 3 years old. The base 1973 Torino that appears early on was likely in good enough condition that the studio wanted to make more use of it elsewhere. The one that was shot to pieces was a Gran Torino, but may have happened to be in poorer mechanical condition and therefore was more expendable. | 2011-02-25 22:44
| 1975 Dodge Coronet The Gauntlet (1977) |

| 1975 Dodge Coronet The Gauntlet (1977) |
ford_guy ![]() | Indeed. I've heard of that as only having been an Arizona thing. The state DPS ran that setup for a good while before switching to the now standard red and blue. | 2010-11-08 10:02
| 1976 Plymouth Gran Fury The Gauntlet (1977) |
ford_guy ![]() | Actually, the markings are still the same for the most part. If I'm correct, the same paint scheme and door star is still used up to this day. Besides the addition of miscellaneous decals all over the car, I believe the only real significant change is that the word "POLICE" is now spread out in a much larger font across the bottom of both doors. | 2010-11-08 10:01

| 1968 Datsun Sports 1600 [SPL311] The Gauntlet (1977) |
an_unusual_eye ![]() | everything sixcyl says is right on the mark... much more likely based on numbers alone that this is a 1966-67 Sports 1600... if we make it that, and change the code to the left hand drive specific [SPL311]... that would be likely as close to precise as it could be. | 2009-12-04 19:12
| Dodge D-Series Utiline The Gauntlet (1977) |

| Dodge D-Series Utiline The Gauntlet (1977) |
Ddey65 ![]() | If it's a Dodge, it's a D-Series Utiliner. The hood looks a little round for a Dodge, that was why I suspected it was an International Harvester before. -- Last edit: 2009-10-02 14:19:47 |

| 1977 Ford LTD II The Gauntlet (1977) |

2009-10-01 15:40 | |
| 1977 Ford LTD II The Gauntlet (1977) |
DT83 ![]() | I don't dislike the fullsize models, I just think the LTD II was totally under rated, having to compete with the downsized Thunderbird and the Ford Fairmont Futura. I think all the full size LTD models and the Mercury spin offs, looked 10 tiumes better as 2 doors. But hey, if somebody gave me a 4 door one, I'd still drive it. And I still regret not buying a 1990 Crown Victoria, back in 2002....what was I thinking. ![]() |

| 1968 Datsun Sports 1600 [SPL311] The Gauntlet (1977) |
Skywatcher68 ![]() | Datsun owerns associations do not use Fairlady for vehicles marketed in the US. This should either be Datsun Sports 1500 or Datsun 1500 Sports, we don't seem to have a consistent naming convention yet. www.imcdb.org/vehicles.php?resultsStyle=asImages&makeMatch=2&make=datsun&modelMatch=0&model=sports&modelInclModel=on&modelInclChassis=on&origin= |

mister car from 971 ![]() | Yes,you're right Ddey65, '70 to '73 models don't have it. But the 1st year for the wrap around rear window, wasn't '75 but '74. | 2009-09-28 21:29
| 1977 Chevrolet Impala The Gauntlet (1977) |
mister car from 971 ![]() | A brand new one for this movie!!! | 2009-09-28 21:25
| 1975 Dodge Coronet The Gauntlet (1977) |
ford_guy ![]() | Also notice that half of the lightbar is in amber, which is an extremely rare thing for police cars to have. But the Phoenix Police apparently liked this setup for some reason. And this is indeed an authentic Phoenix Police Department car in a very classy-looking paint scheme/setup. All of the officers and vehicles seen at the end of the movie also belonged to the Phoenix PD. | 2009-09-28 20:55

| 1968 Datsun Sports 1600 [SPL311] The Gauntlet (1977) |
car nerd ![]() | Thanks sixcyl. Can anyone confirm the use of the Fairlady name in the US? | 2009-09-28 19:53
| 1975 Ford LTD Landau The Gauntlet (1977) |
antp ![]() | Yes and it is often a problem... I often hesitate between the two. If the car is well visible or horns I usually give 2 star, I think ( )About "part of the scene", it can happen to background cars too, hence the difficulty... -- Last edit: 2009-09-28 17:44:43 |

rjluna2 ![]() | You are right Ddey65, it is 1968/72 GMC Suburban. | 2009-09-28 13:51
| 1974 Chevrolet Impala Wagon The Gauntlet (1977) |
rjluna2 ![]() | Bel Air wagon indeed was reintroduced at 1973 model year after 1969/72 station wagon nomenclature as Townsman with trim similar to Bel Air. | 2009-09-28 13:50
| 1968 Datsun Sports 1600 [SPL311] The Gauntlet (1977) |
sixcyl ![]() | I don't know about the US market. You're maybe right "car nerd" ... to be confirmed. But the first model with overiders on bumpers is a 1500 of 1965. The 1965 1600 [SP311] hasn't got overriders. It gets them only on model 1966. The 1500 was dropped from range in mid-65. The 2000 was launched for 1967 YM, but had a specific grill and higher overiders on bumpers. This one can't be a 2000. In 1968 till the end of production in 1969, both 1600 and 2000 are again without any overiders on bumpers. Therefore, this one is either a: 1965 Fairlady 1500 [SP310] or a 1966-67 Fairlady 1600 [SP311] |
