Kooshmeister ![]() | Different main pic which shows more of the Car. Hope nobody objects (it's difficult finding any decent full-body shots of it that aren't blurry, which is kind of ironic). I just figured it was too "off to the side" for a five-star vehicle in the previous pic. | 2009-10-17 19:38

Kooshmeister ![]() | On the right is the police car that is pushed over the cliff. It has a different grille from the other police cars and so may not be a Plymouth Fury. Is this the missing AMC Matador mentioned? -- Last edit: 2009-10-12 15:04:17 |

carfan ![]() | I read somewhere that described The Car as being similar to the current Chrysler 300. I agree with them, similar shape, the low roof-line. if they make a remake of this movie, they may want to consider using the 300 as a car although I could come up with a dozen other better looking cars! | 2009-06-20 21:10

Animatronixx ![]() | How about listing the Barris cars like "1971 Lincoln Continental Mark III by Barris Kustoms" instead of just "customized"? I think we should do, because Barris isn´t yet another custom shop, but the creator of many famous movie cars and I could imagine lots of visitors of this site are especially looking for those, just to find out their makers. | 2008-11-22 07:56

Eldorado_64 ![]() | Major tell tales of the '64 are the lower lights. "64 are divided by a set of non lit red reflectors and both lenses are clear in color (white looking). As well as '64 is convexed ("V" shaped) outward as well as a slight widening at center and nerrow as they taper to top and bottom. '63 are flat at rear, and wide from top to bottom, lenses are split w/ red on top, and clear on bottom and 1 single fixed red reflector in center. Since the bumper end is shorter and wider for '63 it also makes the fin feel slightly taller. Then if you could see the trunk (on models that apply) '64 will have no sight of a key lock since this was the 1st year it was hidden behind the hinged Cadillac badge, '63 will have the key lock just below the "V" or laurel wreath. -- Last edit: 2008-06-27 23:42:20 |

| The Car (1977) |
jcsd ![]() | I remember this car when it was in El Cajon in the 80's. The business has been long gone but I went there when they had "The Car" displayed. I had to have been about 8 years old and as disturbing as it may seem, I would watch the movie over and over again. It wasn't until I was able to see the car in person did I never watch the movie again. I remember trying to look into the blacked out drivers window and while doing so that memorable sound of the honking came on. Cruel act by the owner who later tried to convince me it was fake while I was crying and wanting to get the heck out of there. Although I haven't seen this movie in a long time it's still one of my Favorites! -- Last edit: 2008-06-07 00:22:18 |

| The Car (1977) |
dickjwa ![]() | Hi, I just signed up for this site and decided to pass on some info about The Car. I lived in San Diego and there was a business out in El Cajon that sold movie cars. I was able to buy the only one left from the movie The Car. There were six made in all and this one was a fiberglass body over the Lincoln body. It was rough and had no interior, wires all over the inside as it was remote controlled for the movie. It did have just a drivers seat and it was drivable but not ready for the street by a long way's. I bought it because I really wanted to drive it on the street but never did. Didn't have it very long and that was back in 1979/80. I have been told that it is or was in some collection someplace in New York but don't know for sure what happened to it. It was fun while it lasted and I wish I had kept it. |

| The Car (1977) |
Skid ![]() | It was a B-movie, for sure, but good times if you watch it. My main problem with this movie was the amount of undercranking they did to simulate speed...especially noticable with the police cars, since it made the lights on them flash REALLY fast. |
