It's a '56. The '56 can be identified by the rectangular vent window on the door. The 53-55 have triangular vent windows, and a curved, instead of wrapped front windshield.
Don't think so. Doesn't that car have dual sealed beam headlamps? Edsels had "quadrabeam." Rear quarter is much too prominent, sticking out aft of the rear windows. I think Opel sedan is a better bet for this one.

No, this is later than that. The classic barrel sided body still being produced today and shown above first appeared in 1958 withn the launch of the Series 2. My best guess is that this is a Series 2 or 2A as there is no air intake visible in the wing for the heater, and there is no crash pad visible through the window on the dashboard meaning it can't be a Series 3. Probably best listed as a 1958 Series 2.
