sthor wrote This is definitively not a 1973 mach1, the graphics were completely different in ’73. This is a 1971 mach1. First the color “Grabber Lime” (I) was only available in 1971, second the chrome lists on the lower panel were only on 1971 mach´s and thirdly, if we could see the gas cap, it would be a popup cap, only available on 1971 mach´s. In 1972 and 1973 the mach´s had regular gas caps.

You are correct in the ID of the car, but to be accurate, the chrome mouldings you speak of were used in both '71 and '72 when a Mach 1 was ordered without hockey stick stripes (and yes, there are tons of them with dealer-added stripes despite the trim being present).

The same moulding was also offered on all models except the Mach 1 in '73, as part of the Exterior Decor Group (though the trim on the '73s sat lower on the front valance panel than on the '71/2 Mach 1s).

It would be fine, if these phone would be in function :p Last Sunday I tried to use one in a real emergency case - there was a wrong-way-driver on my autosnelweg-line :wow: (A7 between Winschoten and Oudeschans). As it was such an unexpected sight, my penny dropped too slow for a photo. I only had the thought "Hmm, something is wrong here. Why can I see the grille of this car? ..." After te car had passed me (fortunately the autosnelweg was nearly empty), I stopped on the right and tried this emergency phone but after several seconds of waiting "...is niet bereikbaar" ... :/ But the carpenter behind me in his Opel Movano already has called the police via mobile phone.
I was mentally too slow even for identifying the car. It was something small, narrow Asian, as a Nissan Note, Opel Agila or so. And the driver ...as somehow expectable... a granny, generation 80+, without showing any kind of reaction...

:sun: Oh, this is an side effect of Polish spelling (and my laziness with searching for Š).
As you know, I suppose, if we spell exact 'Škoda' in Polish language it sounds 'Shkoda' ('Szkoda' in transcript).
The 'Szkoda' word in Polish translated to English means... 'pity'. :D

DynaMike NLAnd in Holland the "DS 21 Safari" was never called Safari (that's the British name for it), just the French name Break (or Familiale, Ambulance or Commerciale), and only at the very end it was called DS instead of ID. And no way to say what engine it had, so it could be an ID 19, 20, 21 or a (brandnew) DS 23... But I must admit that it has quite probably the 21 engine. 2011-06-11 00:32

By 72 BL was well underway so may have centralised all their registrations to Solihull?? So ianmax may well be right - it sounds good anyway.

Theres an awful lot of British Leyland cars in Turks Fruit unusually high for a continental movie,Giving away Leyland Netherlands where doing early product placement? So whats to say it was registered by Leyland's press department August 71, and then used as a Leyland Netherlands pool car for trips back to Birmingham occasionally? That way avoiding road taxes? Then in later years just register it in the Netherlands before selling it on..

The movie was filmed in the Netherlands, so it's surely a car from there, disguised for any reason with British plates.

Difference between first registration and first admission indicates that the car is imported or has been suspended and/or missing papers. The last option never occurs now because they work with a 1, 2, 3 etc on the numberplate in case of missing papers.

Alexander DESeries II/IIa is correct, therefore not 1972 but 1958-68. Did the Dutch numberplate provide that year? Might be the year of demob, as it is ex-military ... well, at least the front bumper is! ;) The outer lights are later add-ons, possibly original bug-eye wings. The grey paint looks like a film-crew job. You don't usually dent a Landy in such places ... and if you do, so what? It's Birmabright! :)
