| 1921 Rover 12 hp 'Clegg 12 hp' Sacco e Vanzetti (1971) |
jonjo ![]() | not really to aufe with the workings of a computer, but if you go to my bebo site www.bebo.com & put in johnm2172 then go to pictures on my site & where i have "proper cars not the crap you have today" you will find 4 pic's of my dads rover. i need to get a scanner to get more pic's up. in my brothers garage we still have the number plate from the movie. M 504 massacheussets 1924 if you want to find out about the other cars in the movie go to the Irish Veteran & Vintage Car Club website. it was their members who provided all the cars. a little history, the original plates AI 1950 registered in County Meath 1921, to a gentleman in the village of Longwood. it was commandeered during the Irish Civil War by the republican anti-treaty side. about 20 years ago a man whose grandfather was from longwood came into the garage & said he remembered sitting on the car, we didn't beleive him until he came in with a photo which showed the number plate & the car with him on it!! he also gave us a load of spare parts for the car from his shed. in 1972 the car was driven from Kilcock to Le Mans racetrack & did 2 circuits & back home during a rally which was organised by the IV&VCC, all pictures of that were done on slides, dunno if you can put them on computer. the rally was for the first crossing of Continental Ferries from Rosslare to Le Harve. the car has since been sold, it is now in the ownership of christopher lanigan who owns CPL Motorfactors in Maynooth County Kildare. I never got to see the film, is it available anywhere? about the chassis number 10000. according to Rover, half the car was built in 1914, but with the outbreak of WW1 production was halted & resumed after the war. my dad maintained that as the car was finished in 1919 it should be that year, but because it is a 1921 registration it is a 1921 model. hope this information is helpful for you. -- Last edit: 2009-01-29 23:38:37 |

| Sacco e Vanzetti (1971) |
Weasel1984 ![]() | I have it in Polish (with lector and subtitles to choose). Good or not it can depends on your political preferences. I found there so many social, communist proganda that even some socrealistic films of the 1950's Eastern Block could feel ashamed. A lot of the action is set at the court. So personally I do not agree with the filmmakers point of view, but I have to say that it was well made and good acted movie. |

samyuk ![]() | Rover 12hp 1921-1925 http://www.rover-freunde.de/rffzf140dt.html also known as the Clegg 12hp as it was developed by a Mr. Owen Clegg it evloved into the 14/45 (1924-1927) and 16/50(1927-1928) but I think it is a twelve because of the way that the bonnet slopes down from the one piece windscreen -- Last edit: 2007-03-18 21:29:58 |
