62imperial USTanker in front is a '41-'49 International; the truck behind it may be a '40 Chevy but it's hard to tell.

1938 Oldsmobile Six Business Coupe [F-38]
Tora! Tora! Tora! (1970)
RVTriumph USA friend of mine owns a 1938 F-38 Olds Business Coupe. He was told that his car is the one that appeared in the Tora Tora Tora movie. He has no documentation. Is there any way to determine if his car is the movie car? 2012-03-30 04:27

1938 Buick Special [41]
Tora! Tora! Tora! (1970)
nzcarnerd NZBig Dave is correct on this one and northwest is completely wrong. This is definitely a 1938 Buick and probably a model 41 Special although I think the only way to be sure would be to know the owner of the car. Side mounted spares were available on all series although most Specials didn't have them. In NZ though, all Buicks of this era had them. This car also looks to be fitted with oversize whitewall tyres. 2009-04-29 11:46

Tora! Tora! Tora! (1970)
northwest USCheck Buick's original 1936 brochure and you will see that this is indeed a 1936 Buick. However it is NOT a Special. The spare tires were mounted in the fenders ONLY on the Roadmaster and the Limited editions. Since this appears to be a six passenger, it can only be a 1936 Buick Roadmaster. 2008-09-15 04:51

Lots of airplanes:

Japanese planes, all of which were built out of North American T-6s and Vultee BT-13s and are mostly flying today:

(for this movie you sent pics with a 2.0 ratio, and they seemed correct with a 2.35 ratio)

2491tj ENcant ID the truck but the rear body is a standard WW2US pattern refueller body for 1 and half ton 4x4 trucks..in this picture, all the "parked" aircraft are fibreglass fakes..but, as some were to be destroyed by explosions, they were fitted with real Allison radial engines for realism.

Clark Aircraft Tug
Tora! Tora! Tora! (1970)
2491tj ENClark aircraft tug..with relation to the B17s...all used in the film were genuine wartime B17 Bombers, from around 1943/44, all had lengthy wartime service, but at the time of filming all had been converted to water bombers for a civillian fire fighting company..for filming, all were repainted and fitted with mock turrets and guns..some were destroyed in filming..the one which does a one wheel up landing was accidental and was not meant to happen..the pilot was in the process of landing properly when one wheel became stuck..he was advised to circle the field as a crash landing was inevitable..and the camera crew wanted to set up to film it!!..after filming, the remaining B17s were sent back to the fire fighting company..at least one was destroyed in fire fighting duties in the early 1970s..the remainder were eventually scrapped...as you can see from the above picture the B17 being towed has the tail gunners windshield, but a mock up gun..however, the B17s of 1941 did not have a tail gun or gunners windshield, so these should have been covered over for the movie.

1940 Lincoln Zephyr Continental Club Coupe [57]
Tora! Tora! Tora! (1970)
pilou BEIn 1940 Continentals were still considered as a sub style of the Zephyr line and nowhere did the name Continental appear. The Continental became a series of its own in 1941 as the Zephyr designation was dropped from the car and the Continental became an independent model range. So strictly speaking it is a 1940 Lincoln Zephyr Club Coupe model 57 distinctive from the normal club coupe model 77.However the cars became quickly known as Continental and most historical documents use Lincoln Continental also for the 1940 cars. 2008-03-13 15:26
