DynaMike | It is often quite difficult to see the differences between an ID and a DS... Early IDs had an unpainted polyester roof which looks a bit yellowish or beige. Since 1962 the roof of an ID was always white. The roof of a DS was usually in a different colour than the body, until 1970. Since 1970 all DS and DSuper versions had a single colour for roof and body and the DSpécial (which succeeded the ID) kept a white roof. Also the ID always had small hubcaps (on the very first they were only a few centimeters, so it looks like there are no hubcaps at all) and the DS always had big hubcaps covering the wheel (almost) entirely. There are 4 different kinds of DS hubcaps: standard and Pallas, 1956-1965 and 1966-1975. The car shown here has a painted roof and the 1966+ hubcaps, and still the 'old' front, so it must be a 1966/67 DS 19 (or 20). But there is one problem: The above mentioned differences between ID and DS only apply on French built cars. Since this is in Germany and in those days Germany got many of its Citroëns from Belgium (where IDs were also built with almost all the features of the DS) we cannot be sure without seeing the dashboard... But still I'd list this as a 1966+ DS 19. |

Citsa | Agree with black or a dark grey such as "Gris Nacre". Whether a DS has the roof in a different colour depends on the year - IIRC this one still could have a roof in a different colour. |
