Battle of Britain (1969)
Pierre ENI liked the Sherborne (and believe my old car, CXR 370, survives in preservation - it used to feature in the ATDC's lists, although nearly came to grief during recovery as I recall). A good choice for the movie.
It was Robert Shaw's anachronistic up-and-over garage door I couldn't forgive.

Battle of Britain (1969)
dsl SXReported to be /vehicle.php?id=23114 - 1939 Bedford WHG 30 cwt, DBM 278. Quote "... ... seen in the film 'Battle of Britain'. It was never used by the RAF and was painted grey for the film. ... It is Pat Langley's, which is ex-London Transport, Chiswick Works. It was sold to a film prop Co, and grey for Battle of Britain. It also appears in The Early Bird a Norman Wisdom film. There was also a Leyland in Battle of Britain which was filmed in Tooley Street, London. It seems that the machine had nothing to do with airfields, fire cover then as now would have been provided by the RAF. Of course it was the NFS who painted the trucks grey, I would have expected the wartime airfield trucks to be either red or RAF blue." - Link to "ipmsuk.proboards.com" . 2012-03-06 17:32

Battle of Britain (1969)
Butler James DEThe 10/4 Sherborne came out in January 1936 and only ran for a year. The completely new Ten Cambridge was the replacement model. Most people find the sloping back ugly but it does make it completely different to all other Tens.

Battle of Britain (1969) petep UKThe Spitfires are probably MkVs, as they have the larger radiators under both wings, I think the MkII only has one large and one small, however the cannons have been removed so they look pretty good. All the german He-111s and Bf-109s in the film have Merlin engines so have the wrong cowlings, but they are still probably the best representation of German aircraft in a post war film.

There is also a Humber Heavy Utility, it is in a number of shots, but can be seen centre background of the 1944 Fordson WOT1 main image.

2491tj ENinteresting fact..the movies vehicle buyer Tony Oliver, actually purchased about 30 wartime german and british vehicles while filming this movie in spain, they were fixed up and used in the film, and cost £100 apiece..he said going to spain at the time of filming was like stepping back into ww2,as there was allsorts of German vehicles available..most of his purchases are seen in the title sequence of german vehicles driving through the airfield...many of these vehicles are currently (2007) in his museum here in the UK.and have since been used in various war movies, including Raiders Of The Lost Ark. sadly tony oliver died late 2013 from a heart attack, he was in his mid 70s.
