2491tj ![]() | in this case "tractor", in ww2 British terminoligy, is something used to haul a specific piece of field artillery..hence title "Field Artillery Tractor", although its not a tractor in the farming or semi trailer/tractor way..could list it as a heavy/medium truck, as the AEC Matador is also a "field artillery tractor", but its probably listed on imcdb as a heavy/med truck of some sort. -- Last edit: 2008-01-18 04:50:30 |

antp ![]() | By tractor you mean with the semi-trailer tractors? Or just as heavy/medium truck? Or as light/medium vehicle in the Offroad/SUV category like some small Dodge WC & Jeep ? -- Last edit: 2007-11-29 17:35:45 |

| Morris-Commercial C8 FAT The Pure Hell of St. Trinian's (1960) |
2491tj ![]() | the "class" its listed under is wrong..in spite of its looks, it isnt an armoured vehicle..the back merely acts as a crew cab as its the towing vehicle for the British 25 pound field gun and limber..the sloping back originally was intended to carry the large traversing ring for the 25 pound gun..but the ring was more often than not carried slung under the guns chassis...the rear body is ply/alloy construction with no armoured protection..the windows in the side door indicate the vehicle to be a Mark III version of which over 6,000 were built up to 1944..from 1944 the body was changed from a sloping back to a square profile 4 door version...official designation was Tractor, 4x4,Field artillery, Morris Commercial C8..so perhaps it should be listed as a tractor, rather than as an armoured vehicle? | 2007-11-29 17:07 | |

Alexander ![]() | Yes, indeed, a very early Land-Rover 80" Series I with the 5" lamps behind the grille (1948-50). This one seems to have the yellow-on-green 'Land-Rover' badge and is therefore from between June 1949 and April 1950. Lovely! ![]() |

Sunbar ![]() | 1952 [E] Velox or Wyvern - it could be a Wyvern by the front badge and although the screen surround is difficult to see, I think the name on the front wing looks more like Wyvern. (The dummy port-holes are typically Vauxhall and although non-standard many Vauxhalls had them added.) -- Last edit: 2007-11-28 11:35:07 |
