1958 Lincoln Premiere [53B]
The Parent Trap (1961)
58Roadmaster USUsing what I've learned from the research into the Back to School car, I would like to change this to a Premiere four-door sedan [53B] of 1958.

1960 Ford Fairlane Town Sedan
The Parent Trap (1961)
carguy60 USThe only exterior way to tell a Fairlane from a Custom 300 is that the Custom 300 option deleted the F-O-R-D letters on the hood and trunk. The trunk lock used the same lock found on the '60 Edsel and Meteor. This car has the F-O-R-D letters and is a Fairlane. 2008-08-16 05:53
The Parent Trap (1961) Ddey65 USHey, some Limo website claims that an 8-Door 1956 Lincoln Airport Limo was used in this movie.

julian USI agree that this is a 1960 Fairlane. You wouldn't think the Fairlane would be the base trim level but in 1960 it was. If this car were anything but a base Fairlane it would have one of several chrome trim variants below the belt line on the side and the hood would have a crest instead of the spelled out F O R D. 2008-02-01 01:03

58Roadmaster wrote I'm not sure, be I think this is a six-cylinder car with no center "V" emblem on the hood. This could help us.

I don't think the 57's had a 'V' on the front of the car. The 58's did and there it was in the grill just below the hood. This 57 Plymouth looks to be missing the 'fin' type front fender top trim so this would be a base model Plaza. The 58's were so much prettier.

1960 Ford Fairlane Town Sedan
The Parent Trap (1961)
58Roadmaster USI just found out this fascinating info: 1960 Custom 300 was an option for Ford Fairlane Club and Town Sedans. This option actually provided a credit of 33 dollars to the purchaser for the deletion of certain standard features. Read on here: http://www.lovefords.org/60ford/custom300/default.htm and here (reproduction of actual dealer invoice for purchase of law enforcement vehicles in South Dakota): http://www.lovefords.org/60ford/custom300/src.htm

These links contain info that the body code changed to 58F for the Fairlane Town Sedans when the Custom 300 option was chosen. I'm sure you will come to a consensus on how IMCDB should list the car's identification. Also, "Fordor" and "Town Sedan" are often used interchangeably, but "Fordor" is listed on the lovefords.org 1960 production figures page.

1958 Lincoln Premiere [53B]
The Parent Trap (1961)
58Roadmaster USThere is no doubt in my mind that this is a 58 Lincoln Capri 4d sedan, model 53A. Looking at the horizontal bars on the rear "grille" area, but has the same center emblem as the Premiere. This model had the lowest production number of all 58 Lincolns (including Continental Mark III).

It is. 1958's had honey comb grilles, while 1959's had horizontal grilles.

Ddey65 USLooks like a Ford F-Series from anywhere between 1957 and 1960. Got a shot of it from other angles?

big dave VAI also agree that it is a Fairlane in that it does not have the chrome stone guard behind the rear wheel. Four doors were called Town Sedans. 2008-01-31 18:03
