| 1954 Austin A40 Cambridge Taxi Edgar Wallace - Der grüne Bogenschütze (1961) |
Gag Halfrunt ![]() | This was filmed in West Germany, so there weren't plenty of FX3s or FX4s running around. If you look at the other cars in the film, you'll notice that only one other car is right hand drive. vehicle_199187-Mercedes-Benz-T2.html |

tavistock ![]() | This is a very early A40, its still got trafficators and the rear window still has the sticker 'the Austin A40 Cambridge running in'. By the time the film was made the car was seven years old! I can't believe they would have kitted out an A40 specially for the film, if they wanted a taxi there were plenty of FX3/FX4 cabs around. I've just ordered the film so I'll see if there are more clues. | 2009-01-18 14:15

Ingo ![]() | I'll take the second choice. It shall mean a British taxi. It's obviously not one, so it's a self-cobbled fake taxi. |

Yvon52 ![]() | No the reason is the back wheel-cover, only introduced in 1950. The most funny, because some options (the two club badges), the radio antenna, I think it's the car of my parents they sold in 1956 in Belgium. |

Sunbar ![]() | Yvon52, 1950...I'm guessing that's because of the grill with slim horizontal bars rather than the thicker type design? -- Last edit: 2007-09-18 18:03:08 |

DynaMike ![]() | Those /// /// /// were on the 'Limited' version (series 700), but there was also a Riviera all other ranges... Riviera was the name of the hardtop versions. So that would bring us back to 1958 Buick Super Riviera hardtop coupe [56R]. | 2007-07-29 20:00

big dave ![]() | Sorry Ray, it is not a Riviera. Intead of the big chrome spear that this one has on the side, a Riv would have had chrome slashes like this /// /// /// in the same area. Also the tail lights would have several chrome bars in front of them. It is a Super. | 2007-07-29 18:03

Ingo ![]() | @Gag: the windows of the house in the second, smaller picture, are made in a style, which was only usual in that part of Germany. You cannot find them south of Hamburg. @Bebert: yes, Schleswig - sorry for my clumsy fingers. |

Ingo ![]() | Hmm, it's not Glücksburg, as I thought. It's similar, but not identical. Which castle? In every case it's in Northern Germany, North of the river Elbe. The architecture is typical. | 2007-07-29 13:54

Ingo ![]() | @Gag: this car was probably the one and only existing Standard Vanguard in Germany, so they had to used it several times to get a little bit of "British" atmosphere in Northern Germany (there was made this film). -- Last edit: 2007-07-29 13:44:59 |

| Opel Blitz Edgar Wallace - Der grüne Bogenschütze (1961) |
Ingo ![]() | Haha, very "british", this scene, like the whole movie. Which British authority should have used Opels in that years? The whole brand Opel was unknown in the UK, like Vauxhall, Humber, Hillman and the english Fords in Germany. Wasn't this kind of "showdown"-scene filmed in front of the castle Schloß Glücksburg in Flensburg? I remember, that in one of these German made Wallace-movies Schloß Glücksburg was disguised as a English castle. -- Last edit: 2007-07-29 13:36:11 |
