Similar, but not the same.

The clue lies in the difference in the engines - the air filter on the 744 (on the left side of the engine) is unique, and the exhaust exits on the left of the hood/ bonnet whereas the one of the Continental engine on the 44 exits on the right.

dsl SX@john: what does 4-light/6-light mean in relation to marks and dates? Is it simple (eg 4-light = Mk1 = 1953+, 6-light = Mk2 = 1955+)? Or muddier?? 2010-12-24 00:51
Hansa 1700 Cabrio-Limousine
Jakten (1959)
fortengo HUI agree, it might be a Hansa 1100 (or, more probably, 1700). The presence of rear side window suggests a Cabrio-Limousine, not a Cabriolet, though. Cf:

1955 Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire 346 Series II
Jakten (1959)
john from Staffs ENI think that you have called this correctly, but the only thing to add is that this appears to be the "six-light" saloon, with additional windows behind the rear doors rather than the "four-light" saloon with the thicker rear pillar.

The 234, and the 236 were completely different cars, and the Star had a different tail treatment.

We had a 1953 346 "Four-light" NYO 817, before the Bentley R-type which I still have.

Jakten (1959)
dsl SXThanks - this excludes the Limo which was lwb. So 346 Mk1 or 2? I'm going for 1955+ 346 Mk2 due to size of rear lights which on Mk2 had flashing indicators, and because of the mudflaps (Mk2 has "rubber stoneguards"). But I'm still guessing and the debate is open. 2010-12-23 00:46

Jakten (1959)
dsl SXYes, but trying to guess which one. Star Sapphire had cutaway rear wheel fairings, so not relevant here. This leaves 236 (1955-77), 346 Mk1 (Oct 52- Sept 54), 346 Mk2 (Sept 54 - Oct 58) and 346 Limo (Mar 55- 1959). I don't think it's a 236 which was smaller if I remember correctly, so it's one of the 346s, but do not know how to separate them from this view. So 1953 + 346 Mk1 unless anyone knows better. 2010-12-22 23:55
