| 1952 BMW 501 Musik ombord (1958) |
fortengo ![]() | I think it is a 501. 502s, even the early ones with small rear window, had chrome trim running along the waistline. Link to "www.7-forum.com" |

| Fiat 509 Musik ombord (1958) |
Casper Friedrich ![]() | 509 the only model I know of that has the starter/generator mounted under/in front of the radiator. The rather small size of the car would confirme this. | 2011-02-15 20:40
| 1952 BMW 501 Musik ombord (1958) |
zodiac ![]() | This one has a small window. The big window cars rear quarter window almost met the bigger rear window. The problem is that my figures for both the 501 and 502 is for small window cars. | 2011-02-15 01:32
| 1952 BMW 501 Musik ombord (1958) |
dsl ![]() | Can anyone confirm that this is a big window car? If it is the extra years of 502 big window production may balance zodiac's data to some extent. If this is a small window, then 501 seems much more likely, especially if 502 production started as late as Spring 54. To note - my dates are UK sales so may not be accurate for manufacture. -- Last edit: 2011-02-15 00:56:42 |

zodiac ![]() | According to my book about BMW (Rosellen: Das weiss-blaue Wunder) there were some 10.000 501 made 1951-58 compare with roughly 3.000 502 until 1958. Is that of any help? | 2011-02-15 00:41
| 1958 Wartburg Kombi [311-9] Musik ombord (1958) |
DAF555 ![]() | Limousine would be fine for early ones in Sweden, I only have yearbooks availabe and they are not always reliable. But it seems they used original designations 56-58. From 59 models they have adapted them a little to swedish: Standard Sedan or Lyx Sedan. | 2011-02-14 23:40
| 1958 Mercedes-Benz 180 a [W120.011] Musik ombord (1958) |
DynaMike ![]() | The thumbnail clearly shows there is no chrome beltline, so not a 190 or 219, and the badge on the bootlid looks like 180. But again it looks like there are front quarterlights... Maybe these were available as optional extra? I don't know about the hubcaps, but indeed early models have these small stars and late models have bigger ones. |

DAF555 ![]() | I only have this clip, I´ll check the film if some more details are visible. But these hubcaps, aren´t they older? |

| 1958 Mercedes-Benz 180 a [W120.011] Musik ombord (1958) |
DynaMike ![]() | Must be newer than 1954. Sunroof became available in 1957, and it looks like the front door windows already have the quarterlights, introduced in April 1958. Though I'm not sure whether it can be that new (regarding the date of release of this movie). If it does have the front quarterlights and April 1958 is too late, I'd say the chrome beltline is just not visible on this picture and it'll be a 1956+ 190 [W121] or 219 [W105]... | 2011-02-14 22:30
| 1958 Wartburg Kombi [311-9] Musik ombord (1958) |
Weasel1984 ![]() | Ok, so what do you want to set in case of this car from "Malmö"? Just Wartburg or Swedish term for limousine? Edit: Ok all of them have been renamed. Perhaps it still can be more exact, but I believe, we are closer now to correct naming convention. Like it was already mentioned, on some markets the 311/312 was used as model name, although I think it was after 1962 (so or 1000 or 311/312 - matter of market) it seems in such Poland for example, it was available even under both names - matter of "season" I bet. -- Last edit: 2011-02-14 23:02:28 |

| 1958 Wartburg Kombi [311-9] Musik ombord (1958) |
DAF555 ![]() | Here´s how the very earliest cars were advertised in Sweden: /vehicle_17544-Wartburg-311-311-0-1956.html That´s probably most to show a connection to the well known IFA since it was rapidly dropped, however they were commonly referred as IFA-Wartburgs long after that. We also had the IFA Zwickau P70 at the sime time, but that one was dropped entirely due to poor sales. Anyway, I suppose that they sold as Wartburg make on most markets and modelnames might have changed a bit depending on markets like it did for Volkswagen in this period. But I guess we could use original designation "Limousine" etc. until we find correct ones. |

| 1958 Wartburg Kombi [311-9] Musik ombord (1958) |
Weasel1984 ![]() | Then we need to change all of them, as indeed in 1950's brochures, I saw, I do not remember anything about 311 name. Now we need to find the brand or change model name of sedans to "limousine" etc. (different name for different markets perhaps). Edit - confirmation: http://www.die-besten.de/wartburg/homepage1280x1024.htm The first "model name" was 1000 used since 1962. Sometimes it is possible to meet badge 312 though: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3575/3463047884_a4fc676fb8.jpg Whcih seems was used as model name on some markets - in GB for example: Link to "www.wartburg.sk" -- Last edit: 2011-02-14 22:38:56 |

| 1958 Wartburg Kombi [311-9] Musik ombord (1958) |
DAF555 ![]() | I just checked for what they sold as in Sweden at the time, and there´s no mention of 311. Real early cars were advertised in Sweden as IFA brand and Wartburg modelname. But I think that was dropped very early. But if 311 was just a chassiscode at that point it should be kept that way. |

| 1958 Wartburg Kombi [311-9] Musik ombord (1958) |
Weasel1984 ![]() | In fact to early 60's these Warburgs weren't officially called "311" anywhere IMO. I thought we have such deal ;), that we add the 311 as model name (since we do not use AWE as brand), but if not, then all other have to be renamed or just this one to "Wartburg 311 Kombi". -- Last edit: 2011-02-14 21:16:04 |
