1947 Studebaker Champion
Adventures of Superman (1952-1958)
tv boy USYes, I think the footage of the car careening out of control and going off the cliff was stock footage, the same that popped up on "I Spy." (Although the footage at the top of the cliff was likely new footage on "I Spy.")

And as for Superman, he kind of had his hands full at the moment. But Jimmy Olsen jumped out of the car before it went over and Superman did save him from the cliff.

And not a Newport. That was the special hardtop name for '55. (It was called the "Southampton" for '56.)
Regardless, this is not a hardtop, so just "Imperial".

1953 Kaiser
Adventures of Superman (1952-1958)
fid60 USIt can't be a Manhattan without the large bumper bullets on the end of the bumper bridge where it meets the bumper bar. Also, no 'bananas' on the ends of the bumper which all '52 and '53 Manhattans had. As has been pointed out, you can't tell if it's a '52 or '53 as there is not enough clarity on the headlight rims which are the telltale.

superba USSorry, but I am not buying that this is a Checker. It just looks too small compared to the GM and Chrysler product. More importantly is appears to have fender mounted lights, not the correct flush shield lamps. I also don't see the any side venting on the hood. 2012-11-01 20:03

Seems to me I can just make out the headlamp "wings" which is why I listed as 1953 but again, can't tell positively without a closer shot.
