chris40 ![]() | These 71-year-old eyes tell me it's definitely a Lanchester. It's too small for an Austin 16, but the shape of the windscreen is the clincher. | 2012-01-30 09:06

| 1947 Jaguar 2½ Litre [Mk.IV] The Scarlet Thread (1951) |
pmscott ![]() | I think this actually a 1½ Litre. Headlamps aren't big enough for P100s. The 1½ Litre Special Equipment model had slightly bigger lamps but not as big as the P100s. Peter -- Last edit: 2012-03-08 17:55:26 |

| 1946 Fordson 7Y 5cwt Van [E04C] The Scarlet Thread (1951) |
Storno Rod ![]() | The 5cwt van in this picture is a Fordson 7Y 5cwt or E04C if thats the fuel tank cap that I can see above and to the left of the number plate. I think the earlier 1937 to 1939 7Y van had diferent headlamps, wiper above the windscreen and single louvre,s cut in to the rear doors above the glass the later EO4C and E494C had 3 louvre,s one above the window and two below the drivers mirror was also in a different place higher than later vans. The fuel tank is on the left side on the E494C. I had a 1946 EO4C (fuel tank at rear) till 5 years ago I now own a 1950 E494C (fuel tank at left side). | 2007-11-14 16:35
| 1949 Standard Vanguard Phase I The Scarlet Thread (1951) |
chris40 ![]() | Are you sure? It looks to me like a Morris-Commercial Royal Mail van ... I'm almost sure they had the front number-plate above the windscreen like that. |

| Leyland Hippo The Scarlet Thread (1951) |
Sunbar ![]() | Leyland Hippo I believe from chris40's comments, the cab is correct as here. http://ccmv.fotopic.net/p42350759.html The fact that it has six wheels is shown by the outline of a wheel that is just visible (from the second axle) between the front wheels. |

| Leyland Hippo The Scarlet Thread (1951) |
chris40 ![]() | If it were an AEC there would be a triangular badge at the top of the grille and a divider below it. This is a '30s Leyland; if not a Hippo as I suggested possibly a Beaver, I can't tell how many wheels it has. | 2007-08-29 17:22

| 1937 Standard Twelve The Scarlet Thread (1951) |
Sunbar ![]() | Standard 12 is the best match of all the British manufactures I can identify for 1935-1950. I have taken a number of captures and the windscreen is probably one-piece and not divided. It could be a light area seen through the windscreen. Picture replaced with a later capture from the scene. Standard 12, I am convinced. ![]() |
