| 1938 GMC T-Series Heavy Duty Tractor The Grapes of Wrath (1940) |
lightninboy ![]() | I assume it's a T-Series. AC didn't come out until 1939. | 2012-12-25 02:24

lightninboy ![]() | The model can be called an AC. | 2012-12-07 03:32
| 1926 Hudson Super Six Sedan The Grapes of Wrath (1940) |
portacker ![]() | Just rereading the novel this movie was based on, and the filmakers took the care to get this vehicle just as Steinbeck described it. "A Hudson Super-Six sedan, and the top had been ripped in two with a cold chisel." | 2010-10-02 02:08
| 1926 Hudson Super Six Sedan The Grapes of Wrath (1940) |
Skid ![]() | This vehicle just sold for pretty decent money at the Barret Jackson auction in Scottsdale, AZ. It was pulled out of storage after 69 years with a rotted body, and was restored into a "torpedo-style" period race car painted bright red. | 2010-01-23 22:09
| unknown The Grapes of Wrath (1940) |
shan ![]() | The car is a 1928 or 1929 Cadillac, as both were virtually identical by the exterior features shown here. This one sports a stock original radiator cap/ornament which was usually replaced by taller, more fancier types by the dealers or by the new owner. Also a little odd that this particular car didn't have wide whitewall tires, another feature usually seen on these. | 2009-12-03 00:06
| Autocar The Grapes of Wrath (1940) |
Ddey65 ![]() | If this is from the early-1930's, I suspect it's a 6-T. -- Last edit: 2009-08-21 00:40:03 |

| 1937 Buick Century Convertible Coupe [66-C] The Grapes of Wrath (1940) |
caddy_carazy ![]() | Categorically a 37 Century. I have both and the longer chassis of the Century means the front fenders move further forward leaving more exposed bottom of cowl, whereas the Special fender go back almost to the start of the door making a shorter running board. | 2009-08-19 10:28
| 1937 Buick Century Convertible Coupe [66-C] The Grapes of Wrath (1940) |
38buicks ![]() | It is NOT a Roadmaster as they were all four door convertibles as "allcars" says. I agree with his assertion that it is a Century or Special. | 2008-12-11 02:48
| 1930 Ford Model A Pickup The Grapes of Wrath (1940) |
ModelAMan ![]() | Based upon the shape of the cab roof, this is a 1930 or 1931 Model A Ford Pickup (the '29 Pickup had a cloth top and it was flat, not rounded like this truck). | 2008-11-22 01:56
| 1931 Ford Model A The Grapes of Wrath (1940) |
ModelAMan ![]() | Definitely a 1931 Model A Ford based upon the radiator shell. | 2008-11-22 01:54

| 1931 Buick Series 90 7-Passenger Phaeton [95] The Grapes of Wrath (1940) |
allcars ![]() | These images are superb! Thank you for posting them. The Buick is more likely a 1930 model...the 1931 editions are virtually identical visually to the 1930 models, except that the '31s have a "winged 8" radiator cap signifying the new-for-1931 straight-eight engine. This car has the plain style cap used on the 6-cylinder 1930 models. If a 1930 car, the model would be 69. | 2008-01-22 03:30
| unknown The Grapes of Wrath (1940) |
allcars ![]() | Almost positive it is a 1931 Studebaker, probably a President 8. '32 is similar but does not have visor over windshield. | 2008-01-22 03:26
| 1937 Buick Century Convertible Coupe [66-C] The Grapes of Wrath (1940) |
allcars ![]() | This 1937 Buick is a Century Convertible Coupe, Model 66-C (787 built for US market plus 58 export). The only open Roadmaster models built during 1936-1939 were 4-door Convertible Phaetons. The Special Convertible Coupe, Model 46-C used same body as this Century but was on a shorter wheelbase. | 2008-01-22 03:20

Indygo ![]() | For the record: We are talking the "Grapes of Wrath" here right? And since most of the vehicles of that period are Jalopies (which usually cobbeled together pieces from other vehicles to make them work), why don't we say the majority of the vehicles are just that: Jalopies It might aslo help to read the book (by now I'm assured someone is dying to shoot me) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jalopy http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/jalopy |

| Autocar The Grapes of Wrath (1940) |
pilou ![]() | Yes,I agree that this is an Autocar tractor by the shape of the radiator cowl and the very large oval logo , but to me it is older than end thirties, it must date from ca 1933/34 .End thirties Autocars had much more elaborate and stylish grilles and fronts.I have no data on Autocar model designations. | 2007-09-03 10:39
| Autocar The Grapes of Wrath (1940) |

| 1937 Chevrolet Master De Luxe Business Coupe The Grapes of Wrath (1940) |
pilou ![]() | Contrary to the period Ford coupes that had straight B pillars , the B pillar (between front and rear side windows) is inclined rearwards here so it is most probably a Chevrolet Master DeLuxe Business Coupe of either 1937 or 1938 but the picture is really small. | 2007-09-02 13:51

pilou ![]() | It certainly is a pre 1930 model A from 1928 or 1929( there were very few differences in the first two production years ):it has the more forward placed grille, rounder and larger radiator cowl and the shorter front fenders of the pre-1930 cars. | 2007-09-02 13:31
