On Top Gear UK Richard Hammond drove a van fitted with large video screens around it. It was clearly not as practical or seamless as the Aston but still pretty cool. |

G-MANN ![]() | This registration was probably switched to a "show car" rather than one actually used in the film. Remember they used (and wrecked) quite a few Vanquishes during filming, so it's not like there was just one. This is the case with other James Bond cars, with the original DB5 in Goldfinger, there were two used in filming and one that was a show car for exhibitions and publicity. With this in mind I'm changing the year back to 2002 (filming took place between January and July of that year according to IMDB) -- Last edit: 2012-03-04 00:56:46 |

| 2002 Jaguar XKR [X100] Die Another Day (2002) |
Jonnie Comet ![]() | What's strange is that Bond has NEVER driven a Jaguar XK-series. And the first appearance of one is this one, by the bad guy (and it's my least-favourite open Jag). I made a comment on Top Gear's page recently, saying that of the DB4/5 and the XKE, the Aston was the cultured man's car and the XKE was the one a guy left his girlfriend/wife/mistress for. That was widely carried as an 'image' in those days and I think Broccoli and Fleming were going for the former with Bond's character. The XKE would have made him look TOO much like a playboy. They wanted him to be more of a Tory. | 2011-10-09 09:49 | |

| MDA GT 40 Die Another Day (2002) |
gt40boss ![]() | Hi Guys, I came across this site by accident whilst looking for information on the above car and thought I had better post the correct facts because as you have rightly said above the car is an MDA GT40 MK1. The production people asked specifically for a GT40, there was one for sale at the time in Red. The producers wanted a Gulf Livery car as to replicate the original GT40 chassis number 1075 which is worth millions. The shooting was due to take place in less than a month and there was no time to build a complete car from scratch, therefore the Red car was repainted into Gulf colours. Also two complete front ends were produced and painted into the same colours. This was so the fronts can be easily changed by unbolting the front body mountings, ideal for changing during shooting when the two "spare" fronts were loaded with the expolisve charges for the scenes. Only the one car was used and two spare front ends. The car was indeed a replca and I thank you for your kind comments that it was well made and almost indistinguishable from the original car. I had little time to produce the car as it was being collected in three weeks and away for three weeks. When the trailer for the film came out, I was pleased to see my car there twice in a short clip. I have saved the downloaded trailer for my collection and just as well as most of the scenes from the trailer end up cut from the film. However, It is there (blink and you miss it) a few times. I did get a stranger sense of satisfaction when the car got the good news with the machine guns. I guess we all love a shoot em ups. The car was returned to me a little worse for wear! two front ends came back, one complete and one with the holes. The last front end was used for promotional displays during the release of the film and I believe was hanging on Pinewood studios wall. The car itself has a hybrid chassis with rose jointed adjustable suspension for fast road and racing use. It has a Ford V8 and dimensionally it is the same size as original car. The only changes to the car recently have been to the wheels which are now knock on pin drive spec not bolt on (this was the only area that let down the facade of originality and not easily spotted except by experts. The car has been used for some events over the years and shows but not as yet in a Bond exhibition. During the filming, I was asked to visit the studios to watch the scenes. Unfortunately this did not happen and I was a little disappointed being a bit of a Bond Fan myself. The car is owned by myself and has been upgraded underside from that early version but remains the same looking topside. Apart from knock on wheels of similar spec (as per original GT40s) It is much the same. The car is available for events, exhibitions and or for sale (at the right value). Any enquiries answered. We also produce two of the three Goodwood Festival of Speed 2003 GT40 LeMans winning display. The three cars hanging on the wall! Thats another story. I still have the Black MK2 car from that display and likewize that is also for Hire or sale. The same three cars were used in the Goodwood Revival meeting of 2003 on display for Scalextric to promote their box sets of the 3 winning 1966 MKIIs. Two of the three cars were then owned by myself and the last Gold car was owned by a Friend who lent his car. Again with little time to produce all three cars were reworked and repainted into the correct livery. Well I hope that provides accuracy to the forum. And I agree that was a cheap looking model, but Im glad it was done. I was asked a few years back whether I minded it being replicated as a model I thought nothing of it and just recently I have seen this picture of one. It was definitly no Exoto. Your comments and or enquiries are welcome. Regards Mark |
