| 1934 Austin 12/4 Taxi High Lot - Dobsons Body Have His Carcase (1987) |
sixteensix ![]() | The taxicab featured above is ALE 165, and is in fact a 1933 Austin 12/4 'High Lot' (High loader). It is believed that the body of this cab was built by 'Dobsons' I first came across this cab in the early 1960's when, like the Ricket's cab (The eye of the needle) it too was owned by Christopher Baker Duly, when it was painted yellow, and known affectionately as 'The Yellow Peril'. The current owner has a 'fleet' of pre-war taxicabs and makes a living through hiring them out to film and T/V companies. He does have a habit of changing the registration plates where several cabs are used - to give the impression that they are different cabs, so leaving out the 'E' on this one was not uncommon. - Look for him (and his cabs) on Poirot! | 1930 AEC Regent ST922 Tilling Have His Carcase (1987) |
SteveA ![]() | In the 1970s ST922 was used on vintage route 100 in Central London - I rode it myself. Having reviewed the footage myself I note that although the bus has route 16 front and back, you can see the 100 route plate still in place in the side window above the rear wheel. | 2008-12-31 10:41
| 1928 Star 18/50 Eclipse Tourer Have His Carcase (1987) |
Sunbar ![]() | Hi conorhad. Welcome and thanks for your comments. Its always interesting to hear about the actual cars used in movies or TV series. ![]() If you are able to share the pictures of the car in connection with the 'Have His Carcase' appearance, you may like to add them here. You can post pictures in a thumbnail format using imageshack if you like, or if you have problems e-mail them for someone to add them on your behalf. Also was the car used in any other movies or programmes? |

| 1928 Star 18/50 Eclipse Tourer Have His Carcase (1987) |
conorhad ![]() | I saw you were wondering why the Sunbeam and the Star are so alike. Their factories were directly opposite each other, so a lot of the cars came out looking the same, and used a lot of the same parts and plans! | 2008-07-26 13:08
| 1928 Star 18/50 Eclipse Tourer Have His Carcase (1987) |
conorhad ![]() | Hi. I was scouring the internet for a picture of this car, because it belongs to my father! We have pictures at home of when my dad had to teach the stunt men to drive this car. Well, its good to see someone still takes an interest in this rare beauty. | 2008-07-26 12:39

| Austin 7 Speedy Have His Carcase (1987) |
Sunbar ![]() | Ruby was only for the saloon version. This looks to be a Sports version by the streamlined tail. Pointed tail is probably 'Speedy'. -- Last edit: 2007-12-16 17:59:51 |

| 1927 Lagonda 2 Litre Have His Carcase (1987) |
Hardy ![]() | It is a Lagonda 2.0L High Chassis often mistaken as a 14/60 or the low chassis 2.0L. I know this due to owning the same car and drivind the car pictured. |

liftarn ![]() | Not to mention how many modern cars look alike and on top of that is called different things in different markets (e.g. is it an Opel Vectra or a Vauxuhall Vectra?) or depending on equipment (e.g. is it a Toyota or a Lexus?). | 2006-02-01 15:22

| 1928 Star 18/50 Eclipse Tourer Have His Carcase (1987) |
sixcyl ![]() | There is not any doubt, you're right wrenchhead, it is Sunbeam and not a Fiat. Despite the spare wheel missing, and a different windscreen, the car is the same.. | 2006-02-01 07:36
| 1928 Star 18/50 Eclipse Tourer Have His Carcase (1987) |
wrenchhead ![]() | I am finding this identification thing difficult for vintage cars. How one tell that the car shown is not a 1929 Sumbeam twenty. For example, see http://www.sunbeam.org.au/models/twenty.jpg Not an arguement, just wanting to learn the finer points. |
