| 1967 Jaguar 420 G Gangster No. 1 (2000) |
2jags ![]() | The car is actually an H reg March 1970 420G that is one of the last 200 built. A pencil line drawing of the front of the car was used on the UK film poster and DVD sleeve. It was fully restored between 1994-96 and is lovingly cared for by its 3rd owner. The car has also appeared in a couple of episodes of the TV series Heartbeat screened in 2005 where it was a support character's car. I am the owner of the car and bought it as a restoration project in 1994. It is finished in Rolls Royce colours, Alpine Silver over Burgundy and has won several prizes over the years since I put it back on the road. Very few 420G's or Mark Ten's seem to have survived and are a rare sight on the road. -- Last edit: 2007-06-21 16:47:11 |

Sunbar ![]() | 'E' Registration not found on DVLA but 1967 would make it 420G (1966-70). Grill also has the thicker central rib as 420G I believe. |

| 1967 Mercedes-Benz 250 S [W108] Gangster No. 1 (2000) |
junkman ![]() | Twin headlights have nothing to do with US specifically. Yes, for the US they were mandatory equipment because of the sealed beam headlamp regulation there, but they could be ordered on any W108/109 in any country and were automatically installed if you checked the 'halogen' headlamp option on your order sheet. More cars were delivered with them than with the 'regular' (thus actually rarer) single unit headlamps, which were still Bilux. Later 109s came standard with the 'export' lights, on W108s they remained an extra cost option, except for USA, where they always were mandatory. In fact, many 'standard' headlight cars were later converted to 'export' lights by their owners, because they were a.) cheaper to buy than standard ones in case those were broken, b.) gave better light, and c.) were considered 'cool'. I still have a set of standard lights from when I did it. Should post them on ebay one of these days... From this picture it is impossible to tell if the car is a W108 or W109, so I'd stick with IMCDB's common practice to list the base version then, which would make it a 250 S [W108]. I'm not saying you are wrong, it could be a 6.3. But we can't tell for sure from the pic. |

| Gangster No. 1 (2000) |
G-MANN ![]() | I liked this film. Malcolm McDowell had his best role in ages, even if he was nothing like Paul Bettany who played the younger version of his character. I love the bit at the beginning where he goes to the urinal, sets down his glass of champagne down but as he lifts it back to his mouth after he's finished relieving himself, he pauses, realises some of his urine has splashed into it, then looks at the camera (at us) and sneers "What d'you take me for, a cunt?" and drops his cigar into the drink. "I'm Superman!! King fucking Kong! I can pick you up and throw you a million miles. I'm number one. Number fucking one!" |
