Azura wheels, Cosworth Spoiler, Fuelcap door looks like it is the finger opening type making it too early for an Azura, Bumpers are pre 1992 so defo too early for azura, same for door bump strips, but as for the two tone paint it's not a 2000E colour combinaion i've ever seen before. Sunbar UKFrom 1957 the A Type was replaced by the D Type truck being essentially the same but with GM-sourced engines.

This therefore is a 1958 D Type truck.

I am still uncertain about the re-styled front end but believe it only applied to the D Type.
Although other D Types also appear on the internet with the older style front, its probable that either the restyle appeared after the change from A to D Type, or as I think likely, it was only applied to heavier (D5 and D6) truck range in a similar manner to the following J5 models being different to the J1-J4.

So Fairway Driver is probable I think (again because of the passenger side wiper arm being angled downwards).

I think it's probably better just to list this as a Fairway by default rather something as specific as "1996 LTI Fairway Driver" because that's too much of a guess. As long as you are sure it isn't an FX4S.

LTI Fairway
Spaced (1999-2001)
Sunbar UKI would say its earlier than Fairway Driver because there is no door mounted mirror.

I need to look at it further but some where between FX4R and Fairway Driver the black door mirror was added. Before then chrome wing mounted mirrors were used. Later cabbies would add the passenger side wing mirror bacause it gave them more visiblity than only the door mirrors. (So they do care what is behind!) ;)

Perhaps put a quote at the beginning, but none at the end ... :D

I would say adds are somewhere between official and colloquial. Important is how the car was actually sold and named in the papers. The sales department people would probably use any word, official or not, as long as sales go up.

Ingo DEIs the production in Southampton still running? I've heard, that since a while the Transit, the MK IV and the MK III, too were only produced in Turkey.

I 1989 I thought, that Volkswagen wants to start the assembling of the Transit (it was the time, when the Taro-productin was runing). We've visited the Transporter-factory in Hannover and I've seen several doors lying around, which were looking like Transit MK III-doors. But I was wrong - they belonged to the prototypes of the VW T 4 (which I've seen later on that factory-tour).

The British Army uses names officially, therefore without quotation marks ... with the exception of the Pig and the Piglet ... guess why ... :D

'Wolf' is not official either, but Wolf is official in the German Army.

Even more confusing it gets when you look at the Sherman tank. If in US use with quotes, in British use without. For example the Fisher M4A2 'Sherman' becomes the Fisher Sherman III in British use.
