tore-40 ![]() | Correction: Chrome-rubber overriders -> MY 1971 1970 would have had chrome striping above fenders and no low side striping. 1972 had all-rubber overiders. -- Last edit: 2012-07-05 14:33:08 |

ingo ![]() | Hmm, right now I cannot find pics of the construction of the 1973+ safety-front (my early 70ies car magazines are full with them...), but this new structure of the front has caused, that all parts around there became different. | 1972 Volkswagen Pick-up Dobbelkabin [Typ 2 / T2] Sønner av Norge (2011) |
ingo ![]() | Looks indeed very mongrel-ish. For sure no 1973-MY, because the whole "safety"-front is different and you cannot interchange the parts between the older and the newer version. The 1972-MY had the new front panel, but still the old bumpers - the whole front here is pre-1972. But the wheels are 1970+ and the big squarish taillights 1972+.There are two possibilities: a) the owner has cobbled around with parts of the wrong MY (but then at the back, the front is definitly not from 1973). b) it was a VW-made mongrel, where they still produced the old chassis and body, but had started with some single parts of the following MY. Not all changes came together at the same time. In this case this car could be made in June 1971. -- Last edit: 2012-06-27 19:48:13 |

atom ![]() | E = 1976. I think the bumper with the black paint behind the number plate came with the 1976 MY and that the bumper without paint was introduced later in the 1976 MY...Thus ruling out 1977. In 1977 all 240s had a small light on the rear fender not seen here. -- Last edit: 2012-06-27 14:46:13 |

karoomay ![]() | That's true, most viewers aren't as geeky as us here on IMCDB and don't really notice car details like this. It kind of reminds me what they did in No Country for Old Men: /vehicle_117256-Chevrolet-Caprice-1990.html when they probably thought something like you said "Uh... boxy 70ish-80ish Caprice... seems legit!" even though it was a 1990 model used in movie that was supposed to take place in 1980. | 2012-06-26 21:31 | |

Lateef ![]() | Yes, because there are very few old police cars left in Norway. Nearly all of them were either scrapped or converted into private use. The only authentic police car that I can think of to fit into this movie is this one: /vehicle_506000-Volvo-244-1976.html Also, they couldn't find a good plate to put on the car, it's from 1981. |
