ingo  | We know this kind of "stone-protection" from police-vans in Berlin: /vehicle.php?id=140082#Comment680307 It's usual since many years, because of the lot of demonstrations over there. When you have a close look to them, you will see, that there is not any single square-decimeter on them, which is not full with stone-dents. Everywhere around they are damaged. Since the European borders are open and no controls there, especially since Poland and the Czech Republic are in the EU, too, our border-patrol has nearly no special conversions any more. The freaks for the Volkswagen T2 and T3-vans like the old border-patrol-version very much, due two extras, which were extremely expensive for normal customers: the oversized sunroof, combinated with two sliding-doors. ford_guy | Armored usually refers to a vehicle that is bullet-proof or bomb-proof. I suppose since I'm more familiar with the term then I would be the one to nit-pick  The Tahoe in your thumbnail is newer as it is dressed up in the Border Patrol's fairly new decal scheme. Now that's a true off-road vehicle right there. I love those Border Patrol modifications done on some of these vehicles. |

Those are simply protection screens over the windows that are installed on some Border Patrol units since it's fairly common place for border crossers to throw rocks at the agents.
