"Manufacturers: Commer Cars Ltd., Luton, Bedfordshire." would be the registered address for the company as the headquarters were still in Biscot Road, Luton. Firstly Dunstable was the van plant from the mid-1950s with the old Biscot Road Luton factory used for Commer/Karrier special vehicles. dsl | Agree Commer. Launched as Commer Imp Van Nov 65, renamed Hillman Imp Van Oct 68 when range facelifted and the van got new front panel trim. Killed off July 70 after 18,194 (both names) made. All production apparently at Commer in Luton, so it's not Scottish like all other Imps. Rumours of some Portugese CKD assembly. dsl | I don't think I'll go and see this film. Not totally sure what this unfortunate creature actually was - agree sunburst hubcap usually = Imp Sport, but side trim not visible and 4th thumb has fixed quarterlight with no chrome, and late sports had a fair bit of trim. Could well be a 1969-ish onwards poverty Hillman with a rogue hubcap, but early Sport seems best compromise in the gloom (both for the pictures and my mood). | 2012-08-03 13:07 | |
