1976 Mercedes-Benz 450 SEL 6.9 [W116]
Lost Highway (1997)

ingo a écrit The 6.9 is a huge V8 indeed, the biggest European made, but there is no touch with Chevrolet.

I'm not sure I follow what you're saying. The underhood shot of the car definitely does not depict a Mercedes V8. The components seen are more in line with what would be seen on a NHRA top-fuel dragster...hence, a U.S.-sourced OHV V8 of some kind. If the car is supposed to have 1400 hp, that swap would definitely make sense.

However, the car actually used in the film undoubtedly still carried its original Mercedes V8.

antp a écrit :??: why all that fuzz, in some cases it may be good to have a nice pic rather than an especially sharp/close one, especially for a non-rare and well identified car.
Even if the new pic allows to identify the car model, the old one allows to easily recognize the movie and the scene when seeing the pic amongst all others MB W116.
If rules are good to be followed, they do not especially have to be applied in every case ;)

Well, that particular scene the Mercedes is moving very fast so there won't be much better of a picture than Carchasesfanatic's. I'm completely alright with having it changed back.

Skid a écrit Underhood shot showed a huge OHV V8 (probably a Chevrolet) with all kinds of wild components. 1400 horsepower would certainly be possible, but it would be impossible to keep the car looking this stock on the outside.

antp a écrit old pic was the one in your comment? It was a way better choice IMHO, as this scene is really famous and the car fully visible. I do not really see why replace it (and in such case pictures should be replaced by same scene)

If the scene is in a chase (like old pic) you can get a movie in HD but the image always will be blurry or, at least, in less quality than a capture when the car is stopped or is driven not too fast (like it happens in main pic now) although these last pics come from a 'normal' DVD. Old pic is 576x240 and the new one (originally in no HD quality) is 849x354 so it have been reduced to 720x300.
If we must choose the pic by the "famous scene" of each movie (even if in that scene the car isn't well seen), OK, let's go to delete only a few thousands of pages. In main pic the important thing is the ID of the car, not from what scene the pic comes from. In comments you can add a whole "important scene" if you want but the ID of the car must be defined in the main pic.
Sometimes i don't understand why discuss an obviousness: the new pic is bigger, nearer and clearer than the old one.

By all means change it back to the original picture! I just added this new picture because the Mercedes is closer to the camera and it's a little bit less blurry. The scene with the Ford Thunderbird is one of my favorites.

medimanic GRThe car was not able to have a 690 nomination for a simple reason. By the time of it's production the Mercedes 600
(W100) was also in the MB range and was the industrie's flagship by all means, a "simple" S-class sedan would never
overtake it even in terms of terminology..!

Knoxzilla CANot a GTX, it's a plain Belvedere II. It's missing the GTX's chrome gas tank cap and you can see that it doesn't say GTX on the front fender in a very quick and blurry shot. I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think Plymouth made convertible Belvedere I's so I'm gonna say that its a Belvedere II. 2008-03-14 02:08
