tore-40 NO@andrepa:

Jern-Gustav is the name (nickname) of an old switcher or shunter on Flåmsbana. Displayed at Flåmsbanamuseet for some years now.

BTW, we still use the term 'drosjekusk' (in an ironic or pejorative meaning) when referring to a taxi driver!

tore-40 NOBack then the cargo vans (Varebil) were not allowed to have side windows. They were based on a standard wagon (Stasjonsvogn) but with no rear seats, just as today, but no wall against cargo room either. Do not know the exact tax level but much cheaper for the customer that did not need the seats. Even so, up to eight passengers could be transported. 2012-08-23 01:07

ingo DEYes. And the luxoury-tax was added on the regular -very high- price.

Sure, Norway everything is extremely expensive (but the people there also have very high wages - the reason, why many Germans are emigrating there in the last years), but the other Scandinavian countries are known for high prices, too. This makes it attractive for other EU-citizens (S, DK and FIN are in the EU, N not) to purchase new cars there. The local tax will be deducted and you have to pay the local tax, when you import the car in your own country. This makes a difference, plus the fact, that the basic nett-price is lower there, too. Because the car companies cannot take the same nett-prices everywhere, because then the cars would be too expensive for local customers.

ingo DEIt's true, that in Denmark you have also to pay a "luxoury tax" for the extra options, when you buy a new car. No idea, if it has changed in the last years. So for that reason you could see in DK many basic trim lines, much more than in other countries.

But don't become offtopic here - this movie is Norwegian.

Lateef NOAw shucks, I can't believe I didn't check Nord-Verk on google. It just really looked like Jord-Verk when I looked at it yesterday. Gosh darn heat.

Both names are likely for such a company, which is another reason why I thought Jord-Verk

Nord-Verk: Northern Works
Jord-Verk: Soil Works

Both in Bucharest.

As a child, in the '80s, I traveled quite often in Dacia 1300 (Renault 12) taxis: /vehicle_376766-Dacia-1300-1982.html . I still remember the telephone number of the taxi company (only one at that time, owned by the state, of course :D ): 053, inscribed on all taxis, like the one in the photo. I also remember the mechanical (not electronical, like today) counter, which registered the number of km.

The nostalgia of old taxis...

I love it, I have a scale model Pobeda. :sun:

You had also Volga taxis?

GAZ 21 Volga taxi in Bucharest, 3 july 1964 (the driver speaks french :sun: ): Link to "www.ina.fr" .

We also had Warszawa 203 ( ) taxis, but never in Bucharest: http://fiat.3xforum.ro/img/pics/fiat.3xforum.ro/ok_22944.jpg .

In the '80s, on the road home - school/school - home, it was a grey Warszawa 203 in perfect condition, like new, which fascinated me.

blinski PLWow, according to this site (I don't know how reliable it is), 'if looking at the year 1958, cars built in the USSR counted for more than 20% of all new cars sold in Norway that year'.
http://www.home.no/migreg/engelsk/othereast.html
This, plus great number of American cars make post-war Norway probably the most diverse car market in Europe (or in the world?).

Lateef NOYes, I agree on Studebaker. Having checked, it seems like the first Studebaker truck powered by a V8 engine was the 1955 E-Series. It also appears to have a one-piece windshield, which appears to have been introduced in 1954 or 1955

Lateef NOYes, there were definitely more Pobedas. They were very popular as taxis and the drivers liked them for being spacious and durable. The Volga M-21 enjoyed corresponding success in the 60s, but the Volga M-24 of the 70s helped decreasing the reputation of this proud Soviet marque in Norway.

Commander 57 USTaillamps look like the simple, horizontal ones of the '52 Pacemaker/Wasp or the '53 Wasp.
Since I can see no indication of a trunklid emblem or a chrome strip over the rear bumper, and the side trim appears very simple, will list as 1952 Pacemaker barring any dissent.
