Weasel1984 ![]() | @zodiac I propose to do not post links to this site in the future. This "botish" website took many our pics together with the descriptions - codes, years - everything (without any word or link), so we definitely shouldn't make advert to them. Well it is nothing personal, as you simply didn't know what site it is, I bet. |

Weasel1984 ![]() | Yes, due to this big agreement LRiL (huge rail vehicles and engines manufacturer) could choose and produce/assembly in own plant everything what GMC had in its catalogue. However before the war they didn’t start production of all brands (well in some vehicles, like Blitz, they were never interested) so they made makes mentioned by Wicio of following types: 1) Buick: Series 41 and 90 2) Chevy: - personal cars: Master Sedan, Master Touring Sedan, Master de Luxe, Imperial Limousine - commercial/trucks: 112, 122, 131, 157 - bus chassis 183 3) Opel: Kadett, Olympia The truck 157 had the biggest number of local modifications. Before the war LRiL/GMC cars were one of the most popular in Poland, being nearly in every class cheaper than Polski Fiat, but on the other hand more modern. Unfortunately during the WWII the LRiL machines have been stolen to the Third Reich and plant has been completely destroyed together with the technical documentation. Luckily their former design office director wrote in the 1980s a book where many details have been described. -- Last edit: 2012-05-24 21:08:23 |

chris40 ![]() | Link to "www.worldcarfans.com" In Poland, General Motors produced Chevrolet models at two sites as well: In the fall of 1929 the plant in Wolska Street 103 in Warsaw opened, while the second factory in the suburb of Wola started production from 1937. In 1936 General Motors had closed a contract with local company “Lilpop Rau & Loewenstein S.A.” about the production of vehicles of the Cadillac, La Salle, Buick, Oakland, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Chevrolet, GMC, Opel and Vauxhall brands. |

nzcarnerd ![]() | An interesting clip of film. Sad that it was all destroyed a few years later. Unfortunately the clip stops a second too early to get a good look at the body of the car but we can see by running the film that the car is a 1937 model not a '38. Just because it has side mounted spres does not make it a big series car. I see it is noted as built in Poland. Did Buick have an assembly plant there? -- Last edit: 2012-05-22 22:04:19 |
