violakat03 ![]() | It's sponsored by GM. Bon Jovi and Saturn have a long-standing relationship, this is just the latest in their sponsorship agreements. They are also sponsoring the current Bon Jovi tour, I believe they have sponsored the tour a few times in the past as well. | 2008-04-21 05:11
| 2008 Saturn Sky Bon Jovi: Lost Highway (2007) |
violakat03 ![]() | It's actually got what are called "lil chromies" (the less-expensive of the two chrome wheel options)judging by the quick shot of the rims on a pan-in (they flash too much to be painted or polished) but it is indeed a "base" Sky. The spoiler is an option on either trim line. SaturnSimon is correct on the color, it is a few shades darker than the 07 color and less metallic. Interesting, this vehicle is now part of a giveaway, you can register to win it or a variety of other Saturn vehicles. |

Stephen1942 ![]() | This is an XR version. All 3 door versions are XR's, with the 5 door versions coming in either XE or XR. This has the 16 inch 5-star rims, but there are also 10-spoke rims as well. This is actually a great handling car. I suggest test driving a 5-speed if you get a chance. Hopefully, Saturn will release the Redline version for 2009. I could go for a turbo with a 6-speed manual. | 2008-02-03 20:01

Bravada ![]() | 1. I have briefly explained why I believe the system proposed by me is better. If this was overly brief, I can explain it to you in a more structured way. 2. As antp noted, the discussion might have taken place in the comments as well - they start in a way spontaneously. I have not taken to the forums yet (also see point 3.), and I wanted to continue the discussion that took place earlier, hoping it was kept in a conspicious place. 3. I don't have a lot of time, I spend a lot of time online due to the nature of my work. Posting here requires 5-30 seconds of my time each and is a nice way to get away from doing something less exciting. I don't know if you've meant it, but I find this comment was derogatory. (ok, reading & typing this just took me 2 whooping minutes!) 4. I believe this entire site is simply marvellous, this is why I spend my "free Internet time" here. I greatly value Antp's tremendous work in setting it up and making it so user-friendly and fun, as well as all the admin's efforts to make it work so smoothly. I believe I can appreciate what goes into running a site like that, but I guess I don't need to tell you you are doing a great job as you know it. That said, Antp is a grown up guy and I do believe he wouldn't take part in arguments he doesn't want to. If you believe I am more of an annoyance than an asset, please block me, delete my account or, in case that's impossible, simply tell me to stop posting and I will. EDIT: Original discussion was here -> /yourcomments.php?archiveforvehicle=24077 Announcement and aftermath -> Link to "forum.imcdb.org" I guess I am not going to sleep tonight anyway... -- Last edit: 2007-10-17 02:26:59 |

Alexander ![]() | Bravada, my friend, as you seem to be new around here let me give you a piece of advise: 1. It is not a very good idea for a rookie to start questioning established systems unless you have a in every respect better system which you explain in detail. Sentences like "I don't like it/don't understand it. Get rid of it." are not being looked upon favourably by the administrators. 2. Discussions of this kind should always take place in the forum. If you want to talk about the matter you have to start a new thread in the forum. The administrators will not do that for you. 3. Before you start a new discussion search for the reason of the existing system. As you seem to have a lot of time -- you just volunteered for a full time job -- you will soon find the information. 4. Please do not drag antp into endless discussions. He is the main administrator and has to shoulder the largest share of the work. There is no need to keep him from his constant improvements to the site by restarting old discussions. Thanks for keeping to the rules of conduct. Else it would be very difficult to keep the IMCDb standards, which we all like. |

carchasesfanatic ![]() | But more cars are built in Spain and not for that we are going to add the flag or are we? I make myself to understand it i have never said i dont like it ![]() |
2007-10-17 00:11 | |
| 2008 Saturn Astra XR Bon Jovi: Lost Highway (2007) |
antp ![]() | I say no, as it would be a heavy task to fill country model-by-model, and nobody would do it anyway (as nearly nobody was filling country origin info until I added an automatic thing based on make, and model for some cases). I already have to do many of the model-renaming and adding other non-automatic info (as most of the time cars have multiple production sites, or based on movie country, etc.) And info on where the car is build is not useful most of the time. The flag of origin was just added for a nice touch of color, and in some cases indicating from where comes an exotic car. About previous discussions, it is somewhere in the comments of one of the 120000 vehicles, or on the forum, or the old forum, I do not know and do not have time/energy to search, sorry -- Last edit: 2007-10-17 00:11:10 |

antp ![]() | Latin plural of -us become -ii, but as Renault Modus is French, it is a French word, not Italian (invariable then )I agree that we should maybe change the Meriva flag if it was conceived in Brazil (note that it is also built in Spain). -- Last edit: 2007-10-17 00:01:06 |

carchasesfanatic ![]() | Picassos as spanish why? only because they have the name of a Spanish Artist? | 2007-10-16 23:56
| 2008 Saturn Astra XR Bon Jovi: Lost Highway (2007) |
Bravada ![]() | I am absolutely for listing Picassos as Spanish, Yarii as French etc. South American Opel-based Chevrolets are often extensively reengineered - they are not simply Opels assembled in Brazil. This applies to Corsas too, if not first and foremost. OTOH, "Opel" Meriva is actually a GM do Brasil design. |
2007-10-16 23:51 | |
| 2008 Saturn Astra XR Bon Jovi: Lost Highway (2007) |
antp ![]() | South-American Chevrolet are not just build there, they are usually exclusive models from there (like many Brazilian VWs) When Opels are just rebadged, I list them as German (e.g. Chevrolet Corsa). When the car is just "based" on an Opel (like Holdens) it can be considered as being a "new" car. Bravada > building location is too difficult for many cars, as they are produced in many places. And for example you would really see Peugeot or Renault listed as being from other European countries? These are considered as French cars. And the Toyota Yaris, is it a French car? Those for the French market are build in France, but they are still considered as Japanese cars. You say "Let's switch to country of production", I say "Let's continue with the current system" -- Last edit: 2007-10-16 23:49:30 |

2007-10-16 23:09 | |
| 2008 Saturn Astra XR Bon Jovi: Lost Highway (2007) |
Bravada ![]() | I seriously propose to abolish that - this is very vague and of little informative value. Final assembly location is more "tangible". Besides, I'd define Astra's "spirituality" as "European" more than "German". But we could go on about it for ages - really, let's swtich to country of production. Besides, I am seeing both policies applied, so there is no consistency. |

| 2008 Saturn Astra XR Bon Jovi: Lost Highway (2007) |
antp ![]() | Yes, but the location of the factory were the car is build is not really important. We only use the "spiritual" origin of the car: where it was conceived. | 2007-10-16 23:02
