mm CHhttp://us.imdb.com/title/tt0090605/trivia says:

# The assault vehicle is a modified tow-truck that British Airways used for towing airplanes around at Heathrow. The only trouble was that the truck they purchased weighed 75 tons. By stripping out most of the lead used in its construction, they were able to remove about 30 tons.

Well, at Heathrow, there's a big chance the tug came from http://www.douglas-tugmaster.co.uk - but for me it's either "Made for movie" or "Douglas Tugmaster Made for movie". Further details: http://www.douglas-tugmaster.co.uk/tugmasters/products2.htm

G-MANN UKWhat should an airport tug be classed as? 2006-07-03 17:06

"Trucks; Tow-truck" would be readily available. :D
Or is that too simple and meant for something different? ;)

Explorer4x4They could be classed as "special vehicles." That wouldn't be bad would it? And it sounds logical. And, you could make sub-catagories under it like: special vehicles: airport utility or even special vehicles; recreational vehicle (for RVs and motorhomes). RVs would be cool to add because I have seen some pretty rare/cool ones in movies. Just a thought. 2006-07-03 18:10
antp BERV already have catogies, the Class A are under the bus group, and Class B/C under cars (which include light trucks like pickups).
For airport vehicles, we currently listed them as warehouse vehicles, but we could create a class if needed.

Explorer4x4Well, I meant with the RV thing is trailers. 2006-07-03 22:49
antp BEWe will not start listing trailers :p 2006-07-03 22:49
Explorer4x4:p It was JUST A THOUGHT. 2006-07-03 22:50
trucker USMade for movie would be a suggestion. 2006-07-11 23:26
mm CHThis is a good idea, because it could get quite difficult to find out which kind of aircraft tug was used. ;) 2006-07-13 03:40
G-MANN UKThing is this was a real aircraft tug dressed up with body panels and other decorations. I think of something like the Batmobile (the Burton, Schumacher and Nolan films) as a "Made for Movie" as they were completely original vechicles. 2006-07-13 19:14

A tow truck is a vehicle designed for the road, an airport tug is not a road-going vehicle.

G-MANN UKI'm not sure this should be "Made for Movie" because it isn't a completely custom-built vehicle, it used to be an aircraft tug that's been stripped down and dressed up. 2006-09-03 19:03
antp BEI agree, but it will maybe not be easy to find the name of the original vehicle... 2006-09-03 19:04
G-MANN UKYou never know, someone might get it! Can I change it back to unknown for now? 2006-09-03 19:06
antp BEWhy do I always have to take all decisions ? :D 2006-09-03 19:58
G-MANN UKBecause you run this site. 2006-09-03 20:01
antp BEIf I give admin rights to lots of people it is because I do not have time to do everything ;) 2006-09-03 21:00
G-MANN UKYou don't have to make every little decision, but I always like to hear your opinion, but then of course you can't be on this site every moment of your life.

This is what it's called in the movie:- http://www.planetavp.com/al/Aliens/Vehicles/index.htm

I've just been trying to narrow down the actual 'real' make it's based on.
From what I can find on google searches (for the above comments) on the two most likely vehicles:- douglas tugmaster and reliance mercury, I would say the squared off wheel arches look more like Reliance Mercury.
