JP Magazine of May 2013 offered an "Instant Old Jeep Guru" guide. Some highlights include that most military jeeps did not have a tailgate and they usually had large filler necks for easy fueling in the field. Also, most "Willy's"-stamped parts were for civilian jeeps. The first generation of civilian "Flatfenders" were similar to MBs. A tailgate was added and the spare tire moved to the passenger-side, among other things. A windshield with a center door that opened for ventilation was added to the CJ-3A of 1949-1953. |
