Weren't Sierras this late sourced from Genk? (so not UK origin)

Made in B, the gentleman from Edinburgh is correct.

Article d.d. 16 Feb 1989 confirms Ford moving all of the Sierra production to Belgium:
Link to "www.tijd.be"
"It took twice as long to build a Sierra at Dagenham as at Ford's Belgian plant at Genk."
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/how-dagenham-changed-gear-1616344.html
(Twice as long! LOL!)

Craftsmanship can't be rushed. Plus Dagenham were still using facilities dating back to the Middle Ages - I bet Genk had received much more than twice the investment .......

(puzzled note to self  - why am I defending Fords?? I hated Sierras - nasty cars to drive. Must mention this to my psychiatrist in the next session)

I've drove several times an Mk1 1.3 L, this one for the accuracy and before get in it, I thought that I was going to drive the slowest car of the world, but surprisingly it's quite brilliant for a such a small engine on a rather heavy car. Plus the excitement to drive a so exotic (at least here) car

The first car I ever drove all on my own after passing my test was a Sierra Sapphire 1.6L (G219 KKY - from the office car pool), so it's engraved in my memory and should be a fond first-drive memory. But it was a horrible thing, as were the other Sierras I was given (all 1.6, 1,8 or 2.0 and usually L). Other stuff in the car pool like Rover 214, Primeras, Cavaliers, 309s and 405s were much better.

I've spanked a classmate because of the Sierra. He was showing off with his father's brand new Sierra (one of the very first), but I was talking very nasty things about this ugly chunk (it's still for me one of the ugliest car ever), that he started to cry and tried to hit me. But I was taller and stronger :D

Indeed the Sierra was, besides the Mercedes 190, the Golf II and the Citroen BX, the reason for my decision "Since now I stop with any interest for actual cars!"
This decision, made in 1983, is unchanged valid still today.

No reason for that. It wasn't in the last weeks.
