There are some things I'm not sure about on this taxi they don't look quite right.

The front wing shape, script on the radiator too large, no hood irons, comparing it with this /vehicle_91904-Austin-12-4-Taxi.html

Either a different taxi body on the same Austin chassis or a poor restoration for movie purposes?

You are right, Sunbar, it is certainly not the typical 1934-style Austin 12/4 Taxi. Doors, roof-line, belt-line, lamps, wings, radiator, ... down to the stabilizer -- all wrong.
This is more likely a later, 1935..36, model, possibly a standard saloon or limousine.

Hi Alexander :)

It has the Taxi-meter fitted and the open bay by the driver for luggage. It does look very like its saloon-based and the 'Austin' script in close-up looks wrong, it could be something other than Austin although the radiator has the Austin winged badge. It's not a 1939 model but maybe as you say slightly earlier. Cannot find exact match so far.

Shall we revert it to "unknown"?

"unknown" I think in the hope we can find a better description although it is probably a Austin 12/4.

1938 Morris-Commercial G or G-2 as here I believe.

/vehicle_86266-Morris-Commercial-G-Series.html

"G2SW

A newer version of the G2S introduced in 1937, this cab had a 1.8 litre overhead valve six-cylinder engine rated at 14hp. To date, the Morris is the only maker of London cab to fit six-cylinder engines."

Engine capacity is not 1800cc but 2500cc but DLVA is not always reliable.
