VTi ? That sounds more Honda than Peugeot.

It's the 120hp 1.6 made with BMW, the same of the Mini Cooper R56

I admit I don't know much about Peugeot engines. Especially when nearly every Peugeot I see has an HDi badge.

Before this series of engines they didn't use commercial names for petrol engines. They began with the VTi series made with BMW and then followed the turbocharged THP series.

These are probably not very common in Belgium & France ; here we see indeed mostly HDi, or smaller petrol engine that do not have specific badges

Same here, but consider that neither Citroen nor Peugeot use the badge VTi or THP on their cars, while they used the HDi badge until some years ago (new cars don't have it)
