The car with Hong Kong and Chinese plates has a different radiator grille, with a black badge behind the Toyota logo and the metal bars stopping either side. Since that car has a blue Chinese plate rather than a black border-crossing plate for cars from Hong Kong, I would have thought that it was a mainland Chinese-built model. However, the Chinese E170 appears to have the same grille as the car in the main picture. Link to "commons.wikimedia.org" |

In Hong Kong Toyota Corolla basically follows Japanese style, because Hong Kong people like Japan. For reference: Link to "www.arabsturbo.com" The one in the picture is another version: but I'm not sure if this version is common in North America. -- Last edit: 2016-06-26 05:53:53 |

Hong Kong version is usually [E160]. Nearly no E170 is found in Hong Kong. |

This is more complex than expected. First, the Corolla isn't sold in France. You can see in the rear view that the french plate has a metal frame with an "optimalfleet.be" marking, which is the Toyota Belgium's fleet sales arm. So, this means a Turkey-built, Euro-spec Corolla provided by Toyota Belgium ? But then what's with the chinese characters badge below the left rear lights ? That's an "FAW-Toyota" badge, as seen here : Link to "s2.paultan.org" A badge that the Euro-spec Corolla doesn't have : http://img.auto.cz/auto/base/2013-32/tetoco40_5201ea8416385.jpg The same goes for the VVT-i badges and the chrome trim on the bottom of the doors too. This car must then be a chinese-made Corolla. Except the front bumper has a Euro-spec plate holder. So what could this car be ? A Chinese-spec Corolla fitted with a different bumper, or a Euro-spec Corolla with Chinese badges and chrome bits ? Given the amount of Toyota involvement and screen time in this movie, I'd go with the first solution. Edit : there's a "Premium" badge below the right rear lights. It's definitely a chinese FAW-Toyota Corolla. No idea about that grille. It doesn't match with the ones found at auto.sohu.com : http://db.auto.sohu.com/yiqitoyota/1016/pic_m__4302478.html -- Last edit: 2016-06-26 10:16:13 |

http://chinaautoweb.com/car-models/toyota-corolla-2/ I suppose it's this one, the grille seems the same. If you look at the available trims there is a 1.8L Premium which could be this specific car, although it's very strange that they shipped a car to France for filming while they could easily take an EU-spec Corolla from some neighbouring country as like Belgium (where they have their European headquarter, moreover). Anyway, in China there are two different Corollas: this one is the version build by FAW-Toyota, while the other joint-venture GAC-Toyota sells a different one (Toyota Levin) being similar to the US-version http://chinaautoweb.com/car-models/toyota-levin/ -- Last edit: 2016-06-26 10:31:45 |
