Yes, it is unusual! but you know there are a lot of imports (mainly EU) in Africa, so may be this truck was imported or donated by one of those RHD countries around the world. and we have to mention that there are also RHD countries in Africa which gives also the possibility that this was sneaked somewhere in the African borders. |

For what it's worth, RHD trucks were common in Italy until the 1960s or 1970s because they gave drivers on narrow mountain roads a better view of how close they were to the edge. One other thing that might be relevant is that the former British colonies in West Africa drove on the left but switched to driving on the right udring the 1960s-1970s to fit in with their neighbours. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Right-_and_left-hand_traffic#Asia_and_Africa However, the only left hand traffic country bordering Senegal was Gambia, which changed in 1965 - only a year after the JM was introduced. |
